Wow, what a great food tour! Simona did a wonderful job designing this tour. We not only tried a variety of food in different locations, she shared her knowledge of wine pairings and love for her beautiful city. Not only did we walk away with full bellies, but we had a better understanding of the food history/culture/region of Slovenia. In addition, she talked about architecture, history, art, and even her own life…it felt more like good friends hanging out eating lovely food than someone we just met. I highly recommend this tour, or reach out to her directly if you have something else in mind tour wise.

A food tour is one of our favorite ways to get to know a new city. We've had excellent tours in Rome, Paris, Madrid, NYC and more, and our tour with Simona in Lujbljana was among the best! She is delightful and created a very fun atmosphere. The city is beautiful and Simona brought the history both ancient and modern to life for us. And the food was fabulous. Diverse dishes, plenty to eat, even fresh raw milk from a vending machine, are you kidding?? We purchased the extra wine package and had more than enough to enjoy. We highly recommend this experience.

It was a rainy day when we did the tour but the fantastic food and wine quickly brightened our spirits. Our guide provided lots of information about Slovenian food, history and culture as we visited the various locations. We had a small group of 5 people which made it easy to engage with the guide and ask questions. Was thoroughly full at the end of the tour. Highly recommend this experience if you visit Ljubljana!

We had such a fantastic time on this tour! Our guide, Nina, was really fun and knowledgeable, and she took us to some amazing restaurants. The food and wine were delicious! We took the tour at the beginning of our trip which was great because Nina gave us lots of ideas for other things to try on our travels around Slovenia. We also had a great time with the other people on the tour and ended up going out for drinks with them later. It was a great day, even better than expected!

What better way to experience Slovenia than through the senses? The Ljubljana Food Tour offered by Slovenia Guides is a sensational way to get right to the heart and soul of the people and their culture. With stories and anecdotes to accompany the food and the trail, which broadly covers the Old Town of Ljubljana, you will encounter offerings such as 'bujta repa' (a sour turnip hotpot) from the Prekmurje region, 'zaseka' (a ground bacon spread) from Bohinj, and 'zlikrofi' (potato filled dumplings) - a specialty of Idrija in the Primorska region. And then there are the sweets, but I'll leave those for you to discover! Mm-mmm! This tour has been developed with passion, and is delivered with passion.

Louise Thank you very much for these kind words Louise! You were one of the first people who tried our tour and it pleases me immensely that you enjoyed it! Over the last two years, our tour changed little bit, but I would like to think it is even better now! Best regards to big Australia from tiny Slovenia, Danijel

This tour surprised me with an excellent combination of unexpected tastes and expert commentary by a local guide. I grew up with home-cooked Slovenlan food and it was a treat to try the some of the same dishes prepared by leading Ljubljana chefs, along with Slovenian wine. If you're not familiar with the cuisine, this is a great introduction. The tour can change depending on the day. If you visit on a Sunday or holiday, the Central Market will be closed but you'll get to sample an additional restaurant dish. The amount of food served was equivalent to a meal, with starter, main courses and dessert. Both vegetarians and meat-eaters in our group were happy. Highly recommend.

Hi, Thank you a lot for your review, we are sure it is going to be very helpful to our future travelers. We were challenged since you have mentioned, you grew up with Slovenian food- however, today's food habits in Slovenia has changed throughout of the time and we are glad you have enjoyed it. Yes, Slovenian culinary has many meals with meat (maybe because in the past that was a luxury); however, there are plenty of possibilities also for pescetarians, vegetarians as well as gluten free. Generally, we really suggest taking a tour on days where there is a farmers market, because there were most of the ingredients coming from. However, travelers sometimes cannot choose days, so Sundays are organized a bit different- more inside and more chatting with a glass of wine. Cheers! Wish you many more tasty tours around the world! Thank you again for your time and for your visit!

This was a memorable tour. A perfect blend of history, culture and modern, yet traditional gastronomy. By visiting landmarks, one tends to tire, hypoglicemia steps in, you can't listen to the guide anymore, all te facts mixes and the end of the tour, and yu are ot sure wther the Vikings or Romans or Celts founded the city or maybe it was Johnny Depp... But not at this kind of tour... Our guide Maja Ilovmade sur that every half an hour or so there is a paradise for your palate, and comfort for your stomach. All facts from our knowledgable guide fell into place over a tasty plate. She imedeately responded to our base knowledge, (among our group was a pro touriste guide from another country) and led the tour on he highest level but with ease. Highpoint of our tour was a restaurant that involves persons with special needs, perfect idrijski zlikrofi, andthe kindest waiters made our day... Thistour is highly recommended!

Dear joyful party, It was so great to have you on our tour! We are very glad you wanted to have a special tour, organized just for you - a party of friends from all over who decided to meet in our beloved Ljubljana. Ljubljana Food Tour is definitely optimal for occasions like that: some sightseeing, some tasting of local goodies and local wines and last but not least: spending some time with locals: not just a guide but also the local staff. The restaurant Druga Violina is definitely a special one and we are glad you enjoyed there. They put a lot of effort and energy in running a business, being competitive and yet still not forgetting what their mission is. Thank you on behalf of Maja as well, you made her Saturday too!

I'm not a huge tour person. I'd much prefer to find things on my own, however I had ZERO knowledge of anything Slovenian coming into Ljubljana. I signed up for the food tour and Mateja took me around town. I fell in love with Ljubljana and I think 90% of that was because of the tour. Mateja was so extremely personable and knowledgeable of Slovenian history, cuisine, traveling, everything. The highlight of the tour for me was stopping into Druga Violina. I never would have found that place if I didn't join the tour. THANK YOU MATEJA FOR MAKING MY TRIP TO SLOVENIA SO MEMORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a wonderful time today with Inka and Anna.
It was fascinating to go into all the markets/shops/restaurants and taste all the regional specialities and sample the Slovenian wines. All the food and drink was delicious.
We learnt so much about Slovenian food, the specialisms of the different regions, the wines, Slovenian culture and a bit of history of the city.
Inka was so lovely, informative, warm, funny and passionate about Slovenia and all things Slovenian! Anna (who was in training was also very lovely and incredibly passionate about food)
I can not recommend this tour enough, it was really good value for money, you will learn so much and know where to shop and eat for the rest of your stay.
Thank you Inka and Anna
