- SnowyShastaPortland, Oregon2,314 contributionsWorth a look insideYou will certainly see this church if you visit Ljubljana. It's right on the fairly central Preseren Square, and a bright pink color that's visible from multiple places around the city. We enjoyed taking pictures of it as a landmark. We also took the opportunity to step inside (free to enter) for a few minutes. The interior was closed when we were first in the area (around 2:30 PM on a Saturday), with a small sign indicating hours. Since we were on the square again a couple hours later, it had reopened, so we took a look around. There are impressive frescoes on its ceiling and neat architectural details to look at and appreciate, so it was well worth the 5 minutes or so it took to enter and stroll around a little inside.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 September 2023

The place was a little gem, it stood out against the typically European buildings in the square. The interior was also exquisitely beautiful to match the outside. We really enjoyed it.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 September 2023
- ANGELO VMilan, Italy4,575 contributionsFranciscan Church and Museum"Frančiškanska Cerkev Marijinega Oznanjenja" (Franciscan Church of the Annunciation) is one of the most iconic buildings in Ljubljana: it's just in front of the Triple Bridge, and you cannot miss the pink church (the pink colour is symbolic of the Franciscan order). It was built between 1646 and 1660 on a site where two or three churches stood earlier, and it was redesigned in 1858. The frescoes in the interior were painted in the mid-19th century, and the ceiling paintings were added in the first half of the 20th century. The main altar was mostly made by the Baroque sculptor Francesco Robba (1736). Next to the church there is a Franciscan monastery dating from the 13th century. It features the richest monastic library in Slovenia, with over 70,000 books, which is the oldest library in Slovenia still working. In the monastery building, next to the library, there is a small museum. When visiting, you can buy a ticket to visit only the church, or only the museum / library, or both. I did both, and they were both very good.Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 6 August 2024

A beautiful church from the outside and located right next to the main square, though they're not really open for tourists to visit the interior. We tried going in because we weren't sure, to bump into an ongoing service. It's better to visit the Ljubljana Cathedral if you want to see the interior of churches.

There are countless churches across Europe, each its own museum of priceless history. But among the many we’ve toured, this Franciscan Church of the Annunciation is one of the greatest surprises we’ve ever encountered. The city of Ljubljana with a population under 300,000 is an unlikely place for this beautiful house of worship with an absolutely stunning interior!
From the enormous pipe organ and the frescoes that adorn much of the interior surface to the beautiful flooring and striking altar, this is going to rank among the most beautiful cathedrals we’ve ever visited in 80 countries! It’s easy to think you’re too tired while traveling to step into another church. But it would be an absolute tragedy if you didn’t set foot in this unbelievable gem with its jaw-dropping preservation of history!

This baroque church is located in Preseren square. It has a characteristic red/pink facade. Inside you can find some fine works like altar from Robba. Also as part of Francis order there is library dating to 1235

It’s nice. It’s pretty, but not exceptional. Worth seeing, but if you don’t see it, it’s ok. On the other hand, if you are visiting Ljubljana, I really can see no reason not to go. It’s right in the center of things and you don’t have to spend more than ten minutes, tops, there. And if you are not going to be in Ljubljana, why are you even looking at this review?

Beautiful Pink church in the city centre facing the triple bridge and on the main square. The frescos inside are very beautiful including the stunning decor and the altar too is amazing. It is free to enter as well.

This church was constructed in the 17th century, replacing a much older church. The current building is of an early Baroque design that still retains some gothic elements such as flying buttresses. The building is painted in a cute shade of pink, while the front of the building is simply decorated with pilasters and Neoclassical columns of the Ionic order. Also decorating the facade are niches holding sculptures of Mary, including one as Our Lady of Loretto.
The interiors of the church are exactly what you’d expect from a Baroque church, lavishly decorated to inspire awe. The centrepiece of the altar is a painting depicting the Annunciation. Next to the high altar is a glass fronted shrine holding a coffin with the remains of Saint Deodatus. Assumed to be Saint Deodatus of Nevers, it’s unclear how his remains ended up in Ljubljana. The most attractive feature of the church are walls and ceilings decorated with beautiful frescoes.

The church is colorful from outside, pinkish building on the main square. The inside of the church is also nice.

This church has a very beautiful design, it makes you feel in peace from the moment you step your foot inside. If you need a few minutes to pray or attend mass, this is the right spot if you're walking around Ljubljana.

Like the Cathedral, this is a highly decorated interior and a fine church, so well worth visiting, it is right by the Three Bridges, so very central.
