We were here on a snowy day, the castle is very beautiful. It's located on the top of the city, the view is very nice from there. You can visit the museum of puppetry - very interactive, there is an exhibition of slovenian history, I think it's permanent. You can see the prisons, and there is a beautiful chapel where... More

We came up to the castle, which you can see looking down over Ljubljana Old Town, on the funicular to visit Strelec restaurant, which is situated in the castle. The views over the city from the top are great, and the castle seems to be a mix of the older building and more modern additions. However, the best thing about... More

Nice walk up to the castle, not particularly steep (you can also take the funicular). The castle is ok. You can get in for free and explore some of the castle including the main area inside, battlements for a view over the city, the prison, cafe, gift shop. You can also pay to see special exhibitions (we did not). I... More

We walked up to the castle which was a little steep in places but we enjoyed the walk. At the top the view of the town is very nice. You can walk around a lot of the castle for free which is good and I would recommend going early as it does get quite busy as the day goes on.... More

The castle has been expertly turned into a tourist attraction. The exhibitions are interesting and structured in a way that you can read as much or as little as you like. Views from the tower are amazing. Combined with a return ticket on the funicular it's just 10 Euros to visit.

Lots for your money. Takes most of the day to do all properly. Well presented. English signs. Good for history of Slovenia, culture, artwork and national museum of puppetry all included. Beautiful views. Steep climb so take the vermiculate, it's not expensive.

It is a free entrance to the castle which can be walked up to or there is a vernacular railway, which takes you from ground level to the castle. The castle gives the best view of Ljubljana with some descriptions of the earlier settlements. There is a museum to visit but there is an entrance fee. Well worth a visit... More

A mighty well nigh impregnable fortress, today containing a museum, a restaurant and shop. Quite a stiff climb to get to it although you can take the funicular.
