Lubiana is so easy to discover, but as introductory tip the food tour is a hit. Lovely guide, nice places visited, excellent tastes and not poor, on the contrary more than a dinner in 6 stops, icecream included. I personally support this tour being a wonderful way to start discovering a lovely, romantic, absorbing, vibrant, full of life cute little capital. I loved the walk, the stops, the way our guide explained all about city and tour, and at the end I could not go to dinner 'cause I ate in different steps a lot of great food. It is a must once you are in the city! Enjoy it, Massimo (Italy)

My wife and I took the food tour and enjoyed it. The tour lasted about 3 1/2 hours. The tours are limited to 6 people and we had 5 on ours. Inna was our guide. She did a great job and was very friendly. She told us a lot about Ljubljana as well as the food that we were served.

The food represented different regions within Slovenia, resulting in a good overview of Slovenian food. There wasn’t as much variety as I had expected, however. Several courses included wine and/or beer, which was a pleasant surprise.

We found the tour to be a very good value and a great way to learn about Slovenia and its food.

Our craft beer tour was great! Our guide was Tjasa and she introduced us to the Slovenian craft beer scene - talking about the history of the craft beer revolutions, and about the different breweries and types of beers that are popular in the country right now.
We participated at the program with my boyfriend, and we are quite big fans of craft beer and are familiar with the different types of beers but we still recieved a lot of new information, tasted great beers and got really good recommendations on what to try and what places we should try - besides of course the great places that we visited during teh tour. Our guide was really well prepared and had great knowledge on the subject, we are glad that we went to the program! :)

My wife and I had an amazing time on the Fino vino wine tour. Meta was an incredible guide, taking us to three very different but equally wonderful wine bars. It was a wonderful way to learn about Slovenia's history and culture while drinking delicious wine at the same time. We loved one of the wine bars so much, we went back the next night. Highly recommended for anyone who likes wine and is interesting in learning more about this amazing country.

We had so much fun tasting the local food and wine with Natasa! She was so friendly, professional, and warm. We felt so comfortable right away with her. She took us to some amazing spots, with wonderful food and drinks. She even gave us recommendations for future meals. Hvala, Natasa!

I joined one of the LjubljanaNjam food tours last week and, as longstanding author of the Slovenia Lonely Planet guide (and a bit of know-it-all), I thought I’d know everything. I couldn’t have been more incorrect. Leader Alenka was informative, inspirational and just plain funny and the mixed group (couples from Germany, Holland and the UK – I was the odd one out) were all on the same wavelength. From discussing odorific Mohant cheese from Bohinj and brodet (Istrian-style fish stew) to Slovenia’s skill at producing orange wines, Alenka knew it all. I’m a London Blue Badge Guide as well so could appreciate her talents from that perspective as well. Five stars all around to Alenka and the LjubljanaNjam team! Steve Fallon

Dear Steve F, we're thrilled that you had a blast in Ljubljana with Alenka! You're right - she is very knowledgeable, witty and passionate about her city! It seems there is always something new and fun to learn about a foreign country. Thanks for your valuable review, we truly appreciate it! Kind regards, Nina

I know this company gets good reviews, but our experience was not really even "average" even though I gave it an "average." Our guide was Inka, and while she is a native and was full of information about Slovenia the country's culture, the food provided was quite unimpressive in quality and quantity. For the price, I definitely expected more. Given the good reviews, this day must have been a one-off, but unfortunately, it was our experience.

Dear tsmayda, thank you so much for your feedback, we will do a research on what happened on your tour, as we always make sure everyone gets the same amount of food and that the quality of the tastings do not vary between the foodwalks. We are very sorry we didn't meed your expectations, because we always try to satisfy all of our guests wishes and that is why we also personalize and tailor the foodwalk for all different tastes. We will definitely take your words into consideration. Best wishes, Pia

Unfortunately not as reviews describe nor as we expected for the 55euro pp price tag, Iva was easy to arrange and meet however from there quite the disappointment, this is not a food tour more of a walking tour around the city but lacking a lot of history/knowledge (there are free city tours). We feel Iva is attempting to support local initiatives rather than show you the city which is a lovely idea but just not what we were expecting.

shown around the market with a slice of beer, horse and deer meat (which any tourist could sample), 1/2 rotten apricot from veg/fruit market, a potato soup and roll, x3 small cubes of bread (again any tourist could sample) X1 small slice goats cheese, x1 portion sea bream between two and a glass of wine each, pumpkin oil/honey/Slovenian liquor again any tourist could sample, 1/4 of the very small version of local cake - the most disappointing sample of all! and again any tourist could have this sample- 1/2 of beer bottle , a cheese/ham and nut platter between 4, - 2 scoops of ice cream (most generous part of tour but not the famous cacao shop) and final stop a self service coffee shop (where you make your own coffee but pay for the time you are in the cafe - unique but not what I want to do on my holiday.

I felt this was a lot of money especially as Slovenia is so reasonable could of performed out our tour seen more of the city and sampled much more food for that price so if you have your own initiative or want a real food tour than I do not feel this tour is for you (we are young couple from London who are abroad frequently on city breaks)

Thank you so much for your review and to show me where I could do better. True, I do like to support local initiatives I believe in, and all these I select according to my concept (small, local, independent, with a story + of course good good and drinks). My foodwalks are therefore not just about food and history but also about the people preparing those dishes, their unique stories which, I hope, also help you to get an insight into our culture. Regarding food portions, I always try do to more than advertised at my website for the 55 eur pp (starters + snacks + craftbeer + wine + specialty coffee + dessert), which I believe was also the case in our foodwalk. The coffee experience - making it by yourself - has proven to be a very rewarding experience as it gives people a new appreciation of coffee making, and if they do not wish to do it, we are more than happy to do it for you. Despite, I am sorry I could not provide more of what you have anticipated. History wise: I do include important historical facts about Ljubljana and Slovenia, but since we focus more on food, I am always happy to go more in-depth on one on one basis should you have any more questions about Ljubljana history. And yes, there are free tours which I do encourage people to take. But they are free for a reason. :) All in all, I am sorry I could not meet your expectations. I hope at least the recommendations for coffee and craftbeer (true, again two local initiatives) I gave you for the town you were staying in helped. Best, Iva

I met Iva while in Ljubljana for a long weekend this summer. I took one of her craft beer walks because having already been on several food tours across Europe, I'd never been on a tour exclusively about beer. It was a fun couple of hours which involved stops at 4 different bars & restaurants in Ljubljana. Each place also included a small food sample as well so the whole experience was definitely worth it.

Thanks, Adam, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Slovenian craftbeer business is booming and why not showcase it? Definitely welcome back anytime as our microbrewers are always up to something new!

With indelible memories, I enjoyed 2 FoodWalks with Iva. I booked the first one when I was planning my 5 week adventure in Slovenia. The first FoodWalk on my arrival was so much fun, giving me tastes of Slovenian food both, traditional and creatively modern, plus a lovely jaunt around the heartbeat of the charming Capital. The second one was an opportunity not to be missed just before my departure. Iva imbues her FoodWalks with welcoming warmth and her rapport with the various owners and establishments was evident by the way the owners proudly
demonstrated their love and passion for their culinary offerings.

I live in Las Vegas where there are a plethora of "name" restaurants and star chefs, however, these glitzy places pale in comparison to being greeted with such genuine warmth, lively education and visibly lovely food presentations full of soul and spirit as on the FoodWalk.
This was all so well-coordinated by Iva. Nothing was rushed yet it was a well-planned evening of delightful events. This is her skill, knowing her clients, her city and the progressive and innovative establishments and owners. Iva has done a lot of world traveling and possesses a savvy and this shows up in her FoodWalk. She has a special radar and keen sense of what is currently the best in Ljubljana and generously shares this with her FoodWalk clients.
