- Bob FBoca Raton, Florida3 contributionsGreat tour, learned the brewing processAna was my guide on this tour and she was very knowledgeable about the brewing process and very helpful in explaining everything about the history of Union Brewery. I really enjoy the tour and especially the tasting. Would highly recommend this for a rainy day.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 6 October 2023
- mira MGeorgetown, Canada67 contributionsBeer tasting starting with a Tour! Our tour guide Ana was fabulous! She was great at explaining everything about the process of making beer and she has the perfect personality for this job! We enjoyed it very much! Part of the tour is virtual which was an experience in itself. Very cool and then the rest we walked around and Ana explained all the exhibits! All in all very good tour and I highly recommend it!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2023
- Zarja P1 contributionSuper izkušnja v pivovarni UnionZelo lepo urejen muzej. :) Very beautiful museum and guide Ana, who explained us a history of Union and how to make beer. Bavery is possible to see on 3D and on the end suprise...you can try a few beers, which tasted very good. We recommend it. :)Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 October 2023
- Ljubomir D1 contributionVisit this to learn everything there is about beer 🍻Excellent tour, me and my girlfriend learned so much about the Union brewery but also Slovenian/Yugoslavian history. I had no idea how beer was made, bottled, labeled - but now I do. It was also refreshing to see how creative were the beer-makers throughout time. Our tour guide Ana was beyond amazing, very enthusiastic, well-spoken and could answer any question we could've think of. She later hang out with us with the beer tasting part. Thanks Ana!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 October 2023
- Marisa GPortogruaro, Italy2 contributionsTo doVery nice experience. Thanks Ana who explained everything accurately and at the same time lightly. He answered my questions very well. Knowing the history of what we drink is important. I recommend the visit and first the stop at the pub where I had an amazing meal and drinkVisited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 19 October 2023
- Stephen C21 contributionsA really fun (and tasty) experienceGreat tour and tasting. Our tour guide Rene gave thorough and interesting explanations of the history and process of beer-making by Union, and then provided more than generous amounts of good beer in the tasting room afterwards. Highly recommended!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 October 2023
- Marianne S1 contributionA tour with lots of brewing history and plenty of beerI had hoped to see the actual brewery, but got a “virtual” tour instead. But our guide Rene was fantastic. He gave a lively and fascinating tour of the museum, better than seeing the modern brewery! Afterwards we got a generous tasting of 3 different beers, and lots of time to sit around and enjoy them.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 October 2023
- Nina P1 contributionThanks for the great tour Ana!This was my second time taking the tour and again withe the faboulous tour guide Ana. The tour is well organized and very interesting allowing a wiew into the history of Ljubljana too. Ana makes the tour interesting and enjoyable. Since the previous tour with hjalf a year ago she found new interesting facts and even up-graded the tour. Great job and highly recommended for tourists and locals as well.Visited October 2023Travelled on businessWritten 22 October 2023
- Daniel RLondon, United Kingdom1 contributionUnion Experience - TourVisited the Union Experience for the brewery tour and the bar/restaurant. The tour consists of a high quality Virtual Reality tour of the brewery (not an in person tour of the brewery floor) and then a guided tour (in English) of the museum followed by a tasting. Our guide, Nina, was clearly very knowledgeable on Union's history, beer brewing and Ljubljana in general. Very informative tour with generous sampling afterwards. Had lunch and a beer in the bar/restaurant afterwards. Pleasant atmosphere, good/prompt service and nice local food.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 4 November 2023
- Glenn MoranVienna, Austria13 contributionsTop Beer TourVery intersting and pleasant tour through the world of union brewery. Tour lasts about 1 Hour and 30 to 45 Min. Tehy don‘t go in depth about their beers but much more on the history of the beer and the tools/machines used in the process and change over the centuries. All in all it was a top experience provided by the lovely tour guide Ana. If you‘re in Ljubljana i would recomend visiting. Don‘t forget to pre-book online.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 4 November 2023

My husband and I are avid beer drinkers and have gone on many beer tours, but this was much more unique than anything we have gone on before. You start with a virtual reality tour of the brewery as it is today, which is what most brewery tours consist of (albeit usually in person), and then you get a personal tour of a museum in the premises which shows the beer making process throughout the 160 year history of the brewery. Our tour guide, Ana, was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to walk us through the entire museum, detailing the history and answering our questions. The tour ends with a tasting, which gave us time to chat with Ana and learn about Ljubljana. Highly recommend the experience, and for those who are interested in the beer making process, I would go earlier in the day when it is less crowded to get all of your questions answered.

We toured the brewery during our stay in Ljubljana - and it was my first experience wearing VR goggles! The tour starts with everyone sitting in chairs and putting on the VR goggles to watch how the brewery makes their beer today. From there, our guide Tomaz, walked us through the history of the brewery from its founding to today. Once that concluded, we went to the tasting room where we got to taste some beers. Tomaz answered all of our questions - and seemed to love our excitement over getting to try the samples at the end!
It was an interesting tour and would recommend doing the tour before stopping at the restaurant to have dinner.

Getting there: you cannot miss the big red building of the brewery itself. Entrance is next to the Union Pub. This isn't very well signposted though; furthermore the gate is closed until the guides come out a few minutes before the tour time. We had the Ljubljana Tourist Card and couldn't pre-book online. I think there were more people like us, in the end the group turned out to be rather large. The tour hostess Jerca was very knowledgable and did a good job guiding us through what is actually a nice museum of old things all to do with brewing beer of course. After that everybody was taken into a big room and give VR headsets which show the techniques used presently. I think this a very good way for keeping vistors off the workfloors. Personally I would have liked to have a better look at certain displays. However, that would have eaten into the important last bit of the tour: the tastings!
4 different (lager) types of beer, and we are from now on truly hooked on the unfiltered variety. Jerca spent some quality time in our corner. As expected we had to say goodbye before the next tour started, exiting through the pub for a few more experiences....
Again, Jerca

The union experience was really enjoyable. Our tour-guide Masha was very well-informed and gave us an engaging insight of the politics, technology, and history influencing the production chain. She also gave very clear and concise responses to our questions. She even showed us different styles of pouring beer afterwards. It was a bit unfortunate that we couldn't see the latest production line, but that was due to new company policy by Heineken.

It was a rainy day in Ljubljana and we decided to do an indoor activity and our choice has turned to visiting Union Experience in order to learn more on how the authentic Slovenia beers are brewed. I highly recommend it. We made a very interesting visit with Marko, he was always happy to answer our questions and made our visit really full of discoveries and fun. The visit end by the beer dégustation when we could try super delicious beer!

Very fun and informative experience! Tomaz did an incredible job telling us the rich history of Union while simultaneously keeping it interesting and appropriately paced. It was one of our most favorite brewery tours ever. We’ll worth the price, and of course tasting four beers at the end of it was a phenomenal and tasty conclusion. Thank you Tomaz for making this event such a wonderful experience!

Had a great time with my friends! Extremely cheap beer in the restaurant and even more beer is included in the experience. We had Jerca as our guide, she made it interesting and was great in general. Big thanks!
PS you get a free beer glas afterwards which you may fill up at the restaurant! 10/10

Our guide Jerca was awesome. She really knew a lot about the brewery and was able to provide some great information. The museum and set up of the tour is very relaxed and made for an enjoyable hour plus, you get a beer at the end!

Great afternoon at the Union Experience with my wife during our recent visit to Ljubljana.
We arrived early for our tour so popped into the Union pub next door for some lunch first, sharing a couple of Union beers and a great charcuterie/cheese board between us.
We were met by our guide, RENE, and found we were the only guests on the tour that afternoon. After checking in we made our way upstairs for an excellent 15 minute VR headset tour of the brewery and the brewing process itself which was really informative and great fun. After this Rene took us around the brewery museum, explaining the history of Union beer and the factory, showing and explaining the large collection of machinery used over the years up to the current technology in use.
After the main tour we visited the beer hall where we were able to sample a number of beers, and to then take away a selection with us at no extra charge.
A great afternoon. Thankyou Rene!

We had a great experience with this tour. You start by doing a VR tour of the factory, which was neat. Then we walked through the museum with our tour guide, Masa, who did an AMAZING job guiding us through the museum and answering questions. At the end of the tour you get to try all the beer. It was fun being able to talk with the group about traveling and drink beer- we got many great suggestions from Masa about the city and food to eat. The only thing I would add is that I wish the beer was on tap and not from cans. Other then that, a great experience and fun way to learn the history behind the beer you see all over Ljubliana.

Not sure, we didn’t but I’m sure that you will be able to do so. If not in the Experience Shop, then in the tap room next door. Enjoy!

Thank you
Written 19 February 2018
