Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the museum as it is currently hosting the BIO exhibition. The museum has an interesting fit out with ramshackle parts left exposed. Parking was a little difficult and the museum is outside the city centre but we thoroughly enjoyed our stop there.

It is not complicated to find this castle in the eastern part of Ljubljana. Building is near the highway (exit Fužine), near the pathway of remembrance and easily reachable by public transport – line 20 or 22, last stop. For drivers they have free parking near the museum. A kind of renaissance castle stands near Ljubljanica river. Usually they have some permanent collection and some special exhibition. Check their web. They organize fine workshops for children, guided tours around Ljubljana and some other activities. Usually the exhibitions are not crowded. You will pay a small entrance fee. Pleasant visit.

Positive points:
- at the time of our visit, one of the exhibitions was about "The Century of the Poster" and was interesting (no guide available but all key explanations in English).
- the building (small castle) itself, boarding the Ljubija river, is cute.
However, the museum is quite far from downtown (out of the map) and I was not impressed by the other exhibitions it proposed.
Maybe it is more attractive at the middle of the summer when there are special events in the courtyard ?

Andre, thank you! Although we are a bit far from the downtown, going to Fužine makes a pleasant trip for an afternoon. We are easily reachable from the highway (exit Fužine) and by public transport. If you're coming from the city centre, you should take 20 or 22 and exit at the last stop. If you're coming by car, we have free parking spaces right next to the museum.
Summer in the Castle is definitely more vibrant, however in the colder, rainy days you can enjoy current exhibitions, explore through our Museum's shop and get a cup of coffee in our brand new, warm and cosy Museum's Cafe.
You're welcome again!

Our expectations of this museum were not fulfilled. Whilst its a lovely old building there is very little to see inside for the casual/tourist visitor. We were under whelmed and my husband is an architect. It’s a taxi ride out of the city but not really worth the fare unless you are a student of architecture and want to do some research.

Visited on a Friday with a group of friends and we took a car there. No parking problems at all. We saw a poster exhibition and even though there was no scheduled guided tour, they gave as an impromptu one. Was very informative and the lady was really nice. The museum shop had amazing stuff from Slovenian designers. Later we had some beers at the museums coffee shop and weathered the rush hour.

A friend recommended this design and architecture museum that is located a short bus ride from the city center. It is housed in a real castle. A castle! There was a guided tour in progress but it was in Slovene, so the friendly lady at the entrance explained to the guide we don't speak Slovene and the guide was kind enough to do the tour also in English just for us. Learned a lot. Definitely coming back if ever in Ljubljana again, because they change the exhibitions all the time!

Took a 3 mile walk from town to get to this museum. Almost entire walk was along the river. Very nice. Had coffee at a pleasant café before seeing the museum. Special exhibit at the museum dealt with data, information, knowledge and wisdom. I enjoyed the museum of my visit.
Nice gift shop.
Lovely woman, Katerina (not sure of spelling), made my visit even more enjoyable.

I've been in other museums of architectire and design and had good expectations about this one. The travel guide said wonderful things about this museum, but it was a tremedous disappointment. Besides being far away from the city, there is nothing in this museum that is worth paying the entrance. In my visit in October 2014 there was a small and too modest exhibition about a sustainable living project in Slovenia. The rest of the museum was closed. There was no café at the place either. The entrance was supposed to give you access to two other museums in Ljubljana, but it turned out that you had access only to the exhibition's extension in those museums and not the entire museums. A real disappointment and waste of valuable time.

Really sad after visiting the MAO today, had high expectations, but ended in "this is it?". Saw better exibitions made by high schools. I cannot recomend it.
