As a family of 4 with teenage kids, this may have been a bit of a gamble. However, Dragana is passionate about her business and we had a great time. The dancers got everybody involved and there was a lot of laughter. The food was fine and the welcome drink (somekind of Slovenian aperitif) was so good we went and bought two bottles the next day.
If its your first visit, anywhere in Lubljana old town is easy to find. Many locals speak multiple languages and are happy to help. Parking isn't too expensive either.

The overall program was amazing. Given that we are a small group, we were able to dance with the local dance group, and participated in some local games. The host also provided some cultural and historical background of Slovenia.
The food was also good. :)

Was very much looking forward to this night and for the most part was not disappointed. The venue "The Sestica" restaurant was easy to find and the setting traditional. We were greeted and seated by a lovely lady whose name I forgot and given the welcome drink which was half a shot of their liquer which was really nice. The restaurant filled up quickly but what I didnt realise was that not everyone was there for the Traditional Slovenian nite. There were walk ins and coach parties coming in for dinner and the restaurant is large so as it filled up the noise level grew, so much so that when the lady doing the narration about the costumes and dances could not be heard at all which was a shame they might do well to invest in microphones. The food was tasty and welcoming. We would have liked to have know what a couple of dishes were but it wasnt a problem as we asked one of the waiters as we were leaving. The house wine is drinkable and inexpensive at 15 euros a carafe which was lucky as some of the wines on the restaurants wine list were very expensive. People got to join in with the Polka and the hat dance was a scream to watch and take part in. It was a good evening, short but good. Was it worth 39 euro Im not sure it was. Don't get me wrong I am glad I went but it did not live up to expectations.

What a wonderful combination of food, fun, and new experiences. Our dish had buckwheat as the side dish and it was excellent. Everything exceeded our expectations. During dinner, the dancers showed off their traditional village garb (each wore clothing specific to their location in Slovenia). The host narrated and the dancers demonstrated.
The dancing numbers were so well executed and it was obvious these were true professionals. There were several dance numbers and then they demonstrated a hat-passing game and a musical chairs game. The audience was recruited to participate and the entire restaurant was roaring in laughter.
During the musical chair game, the participants provided such entertainment and, again, much laughter and cheering. We may have all come in separate groups but, by the time the evening advanced, we were one big happy family, cheering for the participants, laughing along with them, and offering condolences when they lost at the hat game or the chair game.
As the evening progressed, the lead dancer did choose someone to dance with him and try to follow his steps. Next came the magic broom which tapped people on the shoulder (which was a summons to join the conga line).
Lovely people, great food, fun times, and a chance to get an introduction to Slovenian country life. This is a must-do for visitors to Ljubljana.

This dinner was part of a coach tour around Europe. We had a great time watching and participating in Slovenian entertainment. The hat dance was especially entertaining. If you want a real feeling of Slovenia. I highly recommend this show.

I was on a group tour with Expat Explore and this was an optional excursion for a Slovenian Folk evening dinner and show. I am sooo glad I went. It was an absolutely amazing night of food, fun, laughs and entertainment! For our first course we each had a chopping board of assorted cold meats and cheese. There was a big basket of fresh bread which complemented the cheese and meats very well. For the main course I opted for vegetarian which was steamed dumplings filled with cheese and vegetables. There was a garden salad to accompany it. For dessert I had the poached pear with creme fresh. It was outstanding. I loved it. For the entertainment we saw dancers, singers and musicians perform and then came the crowd interaction. A few of us joined in and it was great fun to learn traditional Slovenian dances and we also got involved with the Hat game which was hilarious. We laughed til we cried. All the staff (servers through to the performers and the hostess) were soo lovely and friendly. The quality of food was superb. If you go there you must try their flavoured vodkas. Blueberry is amazing. I will highly recommend this place to everyone! If you are in Ljubljana, this place is not to be missed!

I found this Slovenian Dinner and Show on Trip Advisor and decided to purchase tickets ahead for our end of September trip. We were greeted enthusiastically at the oldest restaurant in Ljubljana called Gostilna Sestica. It was a wonderful setting for a memorable evening of colorful dance, savory food and Slovenian games. We will always remember this evening! Thank you for he dancers for their smiles and enthusiasm, the chefs and the host/commentator!

We signed up for the dinner and folk show for the very same night at the tourist office. The restaurant is in what appears to be a distressed sketchy underground mall. HOWEVER, when you enter the restaurant, you are in another world! You are greeted at the door with shots of Teran, a sweet wine which is delicious. The food is very good and the music and dancing by costumed dancers is cute. They encourage the audience to participate.
We recommend this activity wholeheartedly.

Hello, my family and I visited a couple of years ago. This experience was so fantastic that we talk about it regularly! I'd love to try to get ahold of the traditional liqueur that we had on arrival for our Slovenian inspired dinners but I can't for the life of me remember the name! Can you please tell me what that liqueur is called? (Not brand specific, just what kind to look out for)
Thank you in advance and sending love from Ohio, US!

Hello Kylie, we are glad you enjoyed our Traditional Slovenian Evening. The drink in question is "Teranov liker". Its liqueur made from local Terrano wine.
