Minicity is so much more than an indoor playground. It is an entire complex divided into child development-approved activity zones that teach while your kids play. My kids never want to leave and cannot wait for their kindergarten's annual field trip there. Since it's indoors, it is ideal for rainy or cloudy or wintry days, but we like to go in fine weather, when there are fewer guests and we can run amok (in a good way). When I was growing up in the US there was a local children's center that had many of the same qualities as Minicity (although much less fancy and elegant), and it really is designed to stimulate creativity, learning, interaction and the imagination. Just how good is it? Well, turns out they regularly have team-building events for adults, there, too which just goes to show that a cleverly-designed system to stimulate learning and engage with children can also work when formatted for grownups. What a great place!

Been there with my little nephew. Experience is much better than those we had in similar places here in Belgrade. Animators are experts in their field, and program they offer is phenomenal. We will definitely come back to Minicity Ljubljana.

I agree with Mike Blake1 there are parts of minicity that are brilliant like the make believe shop, dentists and the workshop area. The concept of what they are trying to do is great but there are no English instructions how to use things, even though the lady helped for part of the time, some things didnt work, some were not switched on, a group of children were sat to be tought how to bake but tought in Slovenian so we had to move our son away to play on his own ... this is a great place for locals but not for tourists and not worth going out of your way to, i would say the entry fee is not much at all.

Dear Paul,
thank you very much for visiting us and sending us your feedback!
We are working on the translation of the basic instruction to English and we thank you for this suggestion.
Although the first language that we use is Slovene, all of our mentors also speak English and are instructed to use both languages, if there are English speaking children in the group. We will remind our mentors and make sure that they will include English speaking children in the activities every single time.
We also have Spanish, German, Italian, Russian and other languages speaking mentors and sign languages interpreter. Although we cannot guarantee that on the day of the visit a particular mentor will be working, we can try and schedule a mentor that speaks your language, if you let us know in advance (a couple of days) that you will be visiting us.
Please give us a shout-out next time you are in Minicity and let us know while you are here if there is a problem. Quality is our top priority and we will do our best best to fix the problem while you are here and make sure that your child's experience is unforgettable!

They advertise what MiniCity should be like and not what it is like. I took my children to that place a few weeks ago. They try hard to get you there but once you are there you are on your own. Some of the areas were not working or were just closed. In the areas that were open there was nobody to guide the children. Without guidance even I could not figure out what to do there. My children are 8 y old and they were bored at that place. I was sorry I fell for the marketing ads and took them there. The next day I took them to the Ljubljana ZOO and they loved it. So be prepared to be dissapointed at MiniCity. There is nothing educational in paying 18 eur for two children that are left on their own there.

Dear guest,
i am so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience at Minicity Ljubljana. Quality of our service is our top priority, so thank you very much for your review and feedback! We try very hard to ensure that each and every experience in our city is exactly as advertised, we develop our programs in collaboration with pedagogy and psychology experts, and put a lot of emphasis on educating, training and supervising mentors to guide children through all the activities, since that is the only way that children can experience Minicity at its fullest!
You would help us very much, if you could let us know the exact date (and time) of your visit, so that we can look close into what went wrong that day. I would also like to offer you a free pass to Minicity Ljubljana for your whole family the next time you visit Slovenia, so that we can give you the experience that every visitor deserves and should get every time - without any exceptions.
Best regards,
Miha Culiberg, Director

I had the same experience as Mike too so I have to agree with him. I am local but I could not entertain my child without the help of the staff so while we were with one of the staff members my child had fun. But when my child wanted to check some area where there was no staff there was no way I could entertain him. The idea behind the Minicity is cool but there should be way more staff available. Only three members of the staff is not even close to what there should be.

Dear guest,
i am sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your time with us as much as we would like you to.
Regarding the staff and how the Minicity experience works, i would like to explain how and why we work the way we do. Minicity Ljubljana strives to offer leisure activities with the highest educational value for children. That is why role play that offers children first hand experiences is very important in Minicity and the most diverse role play can only happen in a group. We encourage every child to join a group that are lead by our mentors. Therefore, if there are 12 children in Minicity, 3 mentors is more then sufficient amount of staff to guide the children, with each of them having 4 children in a group. The group together decides which small house will they visit next (learning team work is another benefit of this) and they travel through Minicity and change houses every 20 - 30 minutes. Although with our experiences and approaches we succeed most of the time that children join one of the groups - even with children that are extremely shy - there are some parents with children that choose to go solo, are not willing to work with a group or want to visit a small house that at that moment doesn’t have a mentor present. Although we keep the houses open and offer this option, and a lot of times even assign the child their own mentor, that is not always possible, and we do not recommended it, since you do not get the full Minicity experience and the full educational value. In the winter time, when on average there are more visitors in Minicity, than in the summer, there are already groups in every house, so this was never a problem. However the situation can be different in the summer on some days and after reading your review, we will make sure to emphasize our recommendations and explain the meaning of group play on our website, at the reception and emphasize that a child isn’t entitled to a 1 on 1 mentor while visiting us.
Thank your for your feedback and we hope to see you back, so that we can show you how rewarding a Minicity experience can be.

We visited Ljubljana in September with our children and a friend recommended Minicity to us. We liked the concept, so we decided to try it out. And we are so happy we did, since the kids loved it! Their games are very educational, and judging by the effort we had to put in to get the children to leave this place, very entertaining for the children as well. We especially loved their staff, they are so good with children, speak excellent english, so we payed the extra 3 euro fee per child and went shopping for an hour to a nearby shopping center.
The kids especially love the experiments that they did in house of water, the colouring of the walls in painting house and the make believe shop. Would def recommend to families with young children!

We visited on a recent trip to Ljubljana, with our eight and ten year old children. They thoroughly enjoyed their time and would have stayed all day and come back the next! (We had also planned a swim, for later, though). Our two, the youngest of five, are normally a little shy of role play, but they happily went off with one of the staff, who spoke excellent English, and we retired redundant to the cafe! For a few euros more, you can leave the building, but we didn't, as the cafe was so comfortable and quiet. We looked in from time to time and got photos - no problem as long as it's just your own kids - and at one point we sat up and took notice, as our son was heard giving an announcement about a missing teddy bear over the tannoy! At this point they were being policemen. It is really a unique place, and we hadn't seen anything like it before. They especially enjoyed going shopping. The beekeeping part was a nice touch, and they came out of there with lovely things they'd made from honey - that made it uniquely Slovenian. We'd definitely recommend.

Indoor place with many activities for kids age 3-8. Good for rainy days when outdoor activities may be more challenging. Unfortunately there is no place to eat your own snack.

Hola,
Gracias,

Dear Mini City,
On a rainy holiday afternoon and already a lot of bad luck today, we decided to go to MiniCity with our sons. We checked the website in English, as we don't speak Slovenian, and saw that it was open until 8pm. Perfect!
But when we arrivered, we were told that in July and August MiniCity closes at 4pm, which was about 5 minutes later. I now checked the website again, but the Slovenian part. There I can see something that when I think about it, might mean this. It would be very nice for foreigners to also be able to know this, but on the English page, this little part is missing...

we are very sorry for inconvenience but we launched a new web site recently and our English page was not updated with new opening hours. We will put more emphasis on our foreign partners in the future.
