Puppet theatre
May 2017 • Family
Maribor puppet theatre is a place where you take your kids to see a show and have fun. It's a recently renovated place in an old monastery. They have regular shows that the kids will like and enjoy.

Minoriten monastery and church become one of the most beutiful stages for puppet and another theatrical shows. It consists from several different spaces for perforamnces, with nice space for exhibition and very nice terrace. You can enjoy in shows, in eating cakes or wandreing through spaces of history. I like it very much.

Little hidden near the Drava
Mar 2016
Nice mixture of old and new. Inner hall is more for children with new, modern puppet theatre. From outside it is nice complex near Drava river, not far from open market and between nearly unknown old houses of Maribor. Old church is a Baroque building with some older details.

Nice shows
May 2015
Puppet theatre was renovated few years ago and it is really nice. It is situdated on the bank of river Drava from where you can explore many other sights. They have great shows for children and as well for their parents.

Probbably the most beautiful puppet theater in the world
May 2015 • Solo
Placed in old Minoriti monastery which was renewed with care and touch, puppet theater Maribor opens whole new world to you. Maze of old corridors bring you to the central stage, which is per se a place to visit and admire. If one of high quality shows from authors from all over the world takes place than even more.
The building itself offers several stages, convenient for smaller and delicate shows, like Kafka's Metamorphosis.
Following the building maze, history of puppetry will be find and one and ancient bones from monastery on another end.
Outside there is an high tech open air stage, beautifully placed in green among old walls.
Visiting this during Lent festival in end of June is a non forgettable experience

For Children And Grown Ups
Nov 2014 • Couples
Walking around Maribor, at the vicinity of the city market, we got to the Puppet Theatre. It was an amazing sight to see so many happy kids smiling, impatiently, waiting for the next play to begin. We wanted to take a look inside, see the puppets, and the building itself. Not being able to contain our curiosity, we ended up buying tickets for a play called "Practical advice for well-behaved children", in which some of Mark Twain's wisdom quotes were used. The play took place in the Small Hall ("Mala Dvorana") and lasted for an hour. The kids were completely absorbed, paying attention to the story, cheering for the heroin, and responding to questions asked by the actress. The stage - with the piano and a cupboard with puppets - and the lightning were really fascinating. When the play was over, kids were allowed on stage to play with the puppets. All along the corridors, there were also plenty of puppets exhibited. We will surely be back for more of what the theatre has to offer.
