Although very simple inside (it's an old medieval castle built to be secure, not comfortable or luxurious), the location and the history of this castle makes it a must see attraction in Slovenia. It's located in the entrance of a grotto and just in front a rocky hill, so the first image you get from it is impressive. You get... More

Saw this castle as a combination half day trip with the caves. The castle is set into the side of a cave, and you can see both the old castle and new Castle parts. An audio guide is available, and there are written plaques in some rooms in English as well as German and Slovene. Very glad I saw it!

We stopped at this castle as part of a tour. The castle is magnificent, set into the rock face, and i enjoyed learning about the man who built it. Our tour guide took us in, and showed us around. The architecture is interesting, with lots of criss-crossing stairs. But it is very bare inside, and you would need to do... More

A castle built into a rock face at the entrance to a long cave system (Postnojia), which you can visit separately about 10 minutes drive away. As you walk to approach the castle it's beauty sat in the cliff face really is breathtaking. The castle itself was quite interesting, blended cave with building. You could also visit a limited portion... More

This is a really cool stop. Be sure to do the audio tour to get the full history and a sense of what life was like for those who lived in the castle. This is the largest castle built into a cave in the world, and it's really neat to tour it and hear the stories of those who lived... More

We were passing by while driving through Slovenia so we decided to park up (up the steep hill and in the car park on the left) and walk up to the castle to take some photos. We didn't really have time to go in but were able to admire the castle from the outside. It's really impressive and quite beautiful.... More

If you like old castles in amazing place you must visit this place. I remember great action movie "Armor of God" with Jackie Chan. This castle was used for many scenes in that movie. Jackie loves this place as well!

The castle is a very short drive from the more famous Postojna Caves. The castle is a sight to see from the outside. It looks like a box hooked on a mountain. Once you go inside, you get to see one of the best examples of human ingenuity. The builders managed to use the cave and its natural contours to... More

The castle and its surroundings were beautiful - a castle in a cave is not something you see often! We had a very good private tour guide however I don't think the experience would've been as enjoyable if visiting alone. The inside of the castle is not overly spectacular however it's definitely worth a visit!

Very different from any of the castles i had been to. Its worth the tour and the walk up some steep steps. Very close to reality in terms of the harshness of living conditions in those days. Worth the visit. And the scenary is great. Dont miss the restaurant just outside the castle, they serve great gnochi.
