About Rockhoppers Private Tours
A group of Budapest intellectuals led by an old-fashioned (or new-fashioned?) funny man, a retired professor Zoltan; while the colleagues are his friends, experts in history and culture. Please, visit us at rockhoppers.eu, and facebook and instagram, too. We share our knowledge about our city. OUR CITY, which is a place that one would not just either love or hate, but do love AND hate. Instead of offering boring schoolbook tours, we tailor them to the individual interest and personalities of the participants; and we do it in several languages. We make you an insider of Budapest on the tour. We are waiting for you as a “new citizen of Budapest”! Our customers mainly loved the Classic, the Jewish, the Communist and the Danube Bend tours most; however, we can take you to a 16th century Ottoman Turkish bath or try to find traces of your ancestors in Hungary, and we have several other tours, such as The Countryside in a Compressed File, Art Nouveau, or to take the best Budapest photos...

A real unique thing of the world! A 16th century Ottoman Turkish bath fed by natural thermal springs!

Rudas Bath was built by the Ottoman Turks in the 16th century at the place that later got the name: BUDAPEST.

While Turkish baths in Istanbul or other places in Turkey are in short of water, so they have to carry water to the bath and generate steam of it, Budapest has a lot of hot springs; so beside enjoying steam and heat, you may even soak into the pools of various temperature and chemical composition!

Rockhoppers will introduce you to the way how to use the bath, and charge your batteries for a week; and if you have a chance to return, you can prolong the effect.

The hottest pool in the Rudas is radioactive, but don’t worry, it is well below the harmful level, however, it has rejuvenescent effect! However, even if you do it once, the result will be noticeable.

We were on a cruise, and had two days in Budapest. We saw the city from a bus, and we took a chance with Rockhoppers – which over there did not have much to do with penguins. Instead, we could soak into the culture of a country, and it happened the way as if a sorcerer was guiding us. It was just the best presentation of the city with explanation, kindness, wisdom and humour. Thank you, guys!

The biggest experience was to see the big synagogue in Dohany Street. It is a breathtaking view - and Zoltan has enormous knowledge about the building and the Jewish religion, too

After the long-time closed situation due to COVID it was great to return to Budapest! We took the assistance of Rockhoppers. They took us to the Castle area, which is amazing! And we got some info about its political defects, too. We were informed about the absurd politics of the government, and the dissatisfaction of the people in the country. It was a great, honest and fair, and also valuable tour! Alma

In the flow of the slow opening after the COVID I found an ad in which a group called Rockhoppers offered tours in Budapest at a reduced price. Together with my friends I joined the Jewish Tour, which we enjoyed a lot. We entered synagogues, where I never been before, and got great lectures about the history of Jews in Hungary. It was an “exotic” world for us who grew up in a Christian culture. My friends even decided to try the other Rockhoppers tours. Marinna, Budapest

I regularly return to Budapest and always rely on Rockhoppers. I have never regretted it. Slowly I am getting deeper and deeper in understanding Budapest and Hungarian culture, which Zoltan and his colleagues interpret as Absurdistan. It is true! Thank you!
