Take Tram 2 in Budapest and you will be rewarded with great views of both sides of the city. Parliament building is on of them and further on you can see FishermansBastion and Buda Castle on the other side of the Danube River. A great unknown tourist attraction. Go for it !!

We did a loop on this awesome tram route. It passes through the banks of the river Danube and you can see the awesome view of Parliament building, Castle and Gallert hill.

We stayed near a tram stop and took the #2 into downtown many times! The ticket kiosks are straightforward, only once was it crowded, and service was frequent and reliable. The line parallels the Danube so the stops are close to many sites and attractions.

If you take this tram tahn you have the opportunity to see the best of the Buda side, as the tram line is along the Danube river. There are a lot of important builkdings along the line.

This classic Tram/Trolley recently voted one of the best in Europe. The line connects Jaszai Square and Kozvagohid Square and rides parallel with the Danube on the embankment of the Pest side. It is truly astonishing. Tram No. 2 was established shortly after WWII. It's a great hop on hop off when sightseeing as it passes amazing sights including the... More

Our hotel was near the Parliament so it was easy to grab the tram number 2 there and to head down toward the Central Market and the Gellert. We did this several times at different times of day and night. Make sure you buy a day or multi day pass at one of the machines at the larger stops. I... More

The first thing I do when I land in Budapest airport is go straight to the travel and information desk in arrivals and purchase a BBK travel pass. In early March ( 2017 ) we were in this gorgeous city for a week and we purchased a seven day BBK ticket, this ticket gave us unlimited travel on the metro, busses, trolleybuses and... More

This very frequent service takes you along the Pest bank of the Danube with stunning views of the castles and hills of Buda. Make sure you buy a ticket BEFORE you get on the tram and ensure you stamp it in the machine AS SOON AS YOU BOARD. There are more ticket inspectors here than in the rest of Europe!!!

Instead of paying expensive hop-on-hop-off bus rates, take Tram 1 and Tram 2 around the ring, and see all of Budpest quite easily. For a fraction of the price, see a good part of the city.

Thinly disguised scheme to rob unsuspecting foreigners. Avoid. Better to take taxis to get around...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
