For me, Hungarian was difficult to learn even the basics, so I sought out unique performances which didn't test my deficit. The Puppet Theater is magical. The puppets are beautifully crafted. Most of the performances are for children, but they have sometimes excellent adult pices like the Cabaret or Tristan and Isolde.

We couldn't buy tickets on their website ahead of time so we just went in person and chanced it. So glad we did!! This was the absolute highlight of our trip to Budapest. If the Budapest Puppet Theater is doing a show you must go. Extremely innovative and entertaining. We saw Tristan and Isolde. One of the highlights of our Eastern lEuropean trip. We enjoyed two shows here.We saw Oz and a version of Cinderella. Both were stunning and a visual delight. Foreign adults need no Hungarian to follow the shows.Most of the audience were children but adults were not out of place. A great place to take young tourists. Tickets were cheap .
