As I lifelong fan of Franz Liszt, I enjoyed this little two-room museum on the second floor of the Liszt Academy, but I would rate it only average for the general public.

The Ferenc Liszt Memorial Museum is located at 35 Vörösmarty útca a street just off Andrassy út just by the Vörösmarty útca Metro Station on Line One (Line One is shown in yellow on maps of Budapest). It’s just up from the Terror Haz which makes for an interesting juxtaposition if visiting both. There is a coat check where jackets... More

On the first floor of the building where Liszt lived and founded an academy of music is a small museum of four rooms full of historic photographs, documents, furniture, memorabilia and personal objects, including pianos on which Liszt played and composed. A charming museum and of interest if you want to know more about the composer. There is a comparatively... More

A small but excellent museum showing pianos, musical scores, photos, furniture and books belonging to Franz Liszt. Both the audio guide and detailed written explanations were clear and informative. I would have liked a more detailed explanation of the music itself.

As a huge Liszt fan, it is a must for me. We learn a lot about his life and get to see how did he live in Budapest, among his personal items. It is small (3 rooms) so I actually suggest people to read absolutely everything written. Think of it like a biographical space. I didn't have time when I... More

A little (probably a bit too little) museum about a great composer. It was interesting, though, since I wasn't that familiar with him before. However, probably not worth it's price for others than classical music enthusiasts.

This museum is a reconstruction of Liszt's last Budapest apartment (1881-1886). It features some original pieces. Piano, furniture, scores, music and memorabilia. The museum is on the first floor and the ticket office is located at the entrance, Tickets are 1.300 HUF = about 5 Euro or 6 US dollars. EU citizens who are students or seniors have a reduced... The welcome here is far from warm: the door is just off Andrassy Ut but is closed; the museum is up on the first floor as the rest of the building houses other music archives and teaching facilities; and the museum receptionist seemed totally uninterested and we had the impression we were disturbing her. There are just four rooms including... More

Furniture and pictures in one of his many homes. The audio guide at least has some music. The Recital room was locked up and we were not even able to sit at any time.
