to think the whole river freezes in winter so that people can walk across - no wonder Buda felt save from Pest based forces throughout early history

An extremely beautiful building on the Danube River, especially striking its appearance at night when turning on the backlight.

We had the opportunity to take an hour-long cruise of the Danube to see the marvelous and historical sites on the banks of both side of Budapest. The Parliament Building and Castle were just beautiful with their lights in the evening. Wow!

I just loved it. Especially at night. It is even more beautiful than at day time. The bridges, the palaces along the Danube, the monuments you can see from there. Everything contributes to that feeling of fairy tale.

Be sure to take a night boat ride on the Danube as the buildings are spectacular after dark. You can just take the one-hour ride and skip the dinner cruise, which is a distraction if you want to look at the sites.

Gorgeous views, pretty parks with built in trampolines, but NO GUARDRAIL to keep you from falling into the river.

I love the waterfront in Budapest. The views of all the historic buildings and bridges were impressive. However, in July, there were a lot of gnats and mosquitos flying around.

The river separates hilly Buda from Pest. The banks are inviting for a stroll and a cruise on the river gives a great visual introduction to the city and its attractions.

The river trip is a must. Great commentary and very reasonable drinks prices. Recommend both a morning trip and another in the evening.
