This was definitely one of the highlight’s of our recent three-day sojourn in and around old Budapest at the beginning of February. We arrived in freezing conditions and had to carefully navigate our way across treacherous sidewalks. Be warned if visiting in winter—the city authorities aren’t quick to grit ice covered pavements. Our tour guide Anita was insightful and informative,... More

Found this tour to be extremely unique and informative, our guide Anita had a lot to say not just about the sites themselves but the messages behind them and their context in relation to the Hungarian milieu. Would definitely recommend to fellow travelers who are looking for something more interesting and driven

There was just 3 of us on the tour so it should have been pretty easy for the guide. We saw some interesting wall art, a ruin bar (from the outside), a coffee shop with art hanging on the back wall (guide was not sure what it was) but I had hoped for more of a mix as we were... More

Really enjoyed this tour as it wasn't your typical tourist type tour through the city. Great exposure to the city and some of it's "art".

We had a very good experience in the tour. Our guide Bogata knew a lot about the hungarian history and about the current art and nightlife culture. We visited a lot of places we wouldn't have visited if we were traveling the jewish quarter by our selves. Highly recommended!

Yes, Budapest has all the chic restaurants, bars, squares etc that all European tourist spots boast, however it also has the "ruin bars". These are bars with character that have been created within derelict buildings mostly in the Jewish quarter of the city. It's difficult to spot these from the street so a wee bit of research first is advantageous.... More

This tour was really fun an interesting. Learned a lot about the city's history as well as current events, through the lens of a knowledgeable local. The guide, Darius, was very friendly and showed a lot of cool things. He even went above and beyond and helped me find things to do in the city on my own, outside of... More

After few days visiting the different parts of Budapest, the tour in the Jewish quarter with Antonia was really amazing. You will go through many hidden parts of the city and you will be astonished by how alternative Budapest is. Amazing.

If you enjoy mixing a little something different into your historical tours, this is a great tour. Márti was very helpful in setting up a private tour for our family of 4 with 12 & 14 year old daughters. Our guide Bogata Bogati was great! This was one of our favorite tours, a walking tour through Jewish area and some... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
