When the "Nyugati" was built by the Eiffel Company in 1877, probably the proud capital of Hungary didn't plan, that more than a century, later on, this beauty to be so deteriorated. It was sad to see this untenable, neglected impressive building. Cleanness is the...More

Unlike many European countries it is impossible to kindly ask the train conductor if you can purchase a ticket (with a surcharge) on the train. A 3 figure sum fine (in euros) awaits anyone trying to do this. There are queues at the antiquated user-unfriendly...More

Truly impressive old World train station with incredible design and vast openness. Grungy but we felt very safe. Hungarian police have moved all the vagrants out (thank God for common sense and civic pride).

We traveled to Budapest on August 2018 and been to Nyugati Pályaudvar Railway station. The station is adjacent to a shopping mall, and well connected by public transport system. We had to travel to Bratislava by train and we went to buy tickets. The information...More

Tbh people moaning about being directed to international ticket office, should have read the other offices ‘internal journeys’ over each hatch. Once at ‘international’ , very quick and cheap. Bratislava trip fir €7 each I’ll take my chances for that price

This station is old, dirty and dilapidated. I would not want any woman to be here alone at night- very sketchy. Very few English language signs and very little helpful signage at all. Thankfully the visitor info was still open and able to advise on...More
