i always love riding Funiculars. I like to be in the lower car. This funicular is a quick and easy ride up or down the hill. has great views, moves along nicely, and is clean. However, it is a tourist business, and most likely could...More

We only did the Funicular one way (down) just for the experience. It is not worth the queuing at the bottom as it doesn't take that long to walk up to the top. We got the front carriage so did have a lovely view over...More

Located on the Buda side, right across from the chain bridge. A quick and easy way to get up to the castle and museum sections, you will save time and your legs. It's about $10CAN for a return trip. There are three layers to the...More

We didn't get a great view from the middle carriage so consider the front carriage as you don't get the roof from the carriage below in the way, especially if you are short. It's a very short trip and not included in any travel card...More

It cost us $9 return each for the shortest "taxi" ride I ever took, but it saved my legs from having to walk up and down that very steep hill and for that I forgive it! We were heading to the castle for the food...More

The funicular ticket is cheap and gets you to the top of the hill quickly. You can buy return ticket or one way. I recommend to take it going up, and walk your way down. There is a lot to see around the Buda castle,...More

If you haven't been on a Funicular before then it's worth the expense otherwise it's worth walking and seeing a bit more of Budapest on the way up (only a 20 minute walk following the path through the woods).

Taking the furnicular uphill to Budapest Castle, it saved us a lot of walk. However, the view from the furnicular itself was unremarkable. So, I would suggest that you just take it as a kind of transportation rather than a sight-seeing spot.

It could cut down on the time it takes to get down the hill if your hotel is up there, you could just stroll across the chain bridge afterwards and end up in Pest. If you are not the walking type, simply taking a bus might... More

I think the price worked out about £4 per person for a very short (approx 3 mins) ride. Yes it takes you you up and down the hill to Buda Castle area. Be aware that the castle itself was obliterated in the last war and is... More
