The chairlift offers a spectacular view on Budapest and it is a relaxing and fun way to admire the beauty of this uniquely located beautiful European capital city. The trip lasts about 10 minutes. Despite the huge lines in the weekend it is worth queuing...More
The Chair lift was a great way down after we had travelled up on the CogWheel and the children's Railway. Visited Elizabeth tower and that had earned us a well deserved hot chocolate in the cafe just before the chair lift.

Amazing views and a peaceful tranquil walk.
The chairlift was easy to get to from Nyugati palyaudvar. We got bus 291. This takes you to the last stop then there is a 2 minute walk.
Once there, there are self service machines to buy tickets....More
As I live partly in Budapest and often go hiking to the Buda Hills, I can recommend another route to get to the chairlift (Libegő). If you have time, ride to the Széchenyi Hill terminal with the cog railway from the city terminal at Városmajor....More

Very peaceful when on the chairlift and even goes in rainy weather.
Well worth the trip.
I haven't had so much fun on a chairlift since I was a kid and they put one in the Bronx Zoo (and that's a long time). Easy to get to by public transportation, we got there at 10am opening time and beat the crowds....More

By law you shouldn't pay more than 280 forint/km.. use Taxify app.. you'll know your exact fare ahead of time, you can use your credit card safely, you know the the driver's name and his car's number, you'll get an email with a receipt.. they can't screw with you.. street cabs will rip you off.. they will either use fake meters or not use one at all or drive you around in circles.. then ask you to pay triple the price.. also always watch for the change the driver gives you.. a lot of times they give you Indonesian rupee.. they look similar to Hungarian forint.. a widely used scam in Hungary.
