Interesting history and impressive reivews

Great views of the city from the ramparts. Most of the castle itself was destroyed by the hapsburgs, but the walls still stand, as does the base of the cathedral. The guided... read more

Within the castle you could visit several different museums, like the history of the castle and the wax museum or the system of cellars and each of them are interesting. But if you rather stay outside or are just looking for a stroll and want to take pictures of the city from above it is great to walk along the... More

It is ridiculous.. you can walk around the castle wall, than you have to pay to go to the castle garden where you can find some canons and grass, then you have to pay to go in the castle to see the panopticon which was ridiculous. Sooo boooring...

Great views of the city from the ramparts. Most of the castle itself was destroyed by the hapsburgs, but the walls still stand, as does the base of the cathedral. The guided tour to the underpassages of the castle was well worth it and impressive. Also learned about the story/movie made about the seige 'under the crescent moon'.

My last visit was 30 years ago and I have been talking about it ever since. Did it live up to m memories? Sadly No. while they are renovating the castle and improving the exhibits I feel that it has lost its medieval charm. It's very clinical now and very sparse. There Are different exhibits in different buildings and it... More

We lived the castle. It has a wonderful view of the city. Not all of the exhibits are in English which is understandable. Our main issue is after paying admission they have a bunch of microadmission places to see a lot of the area. With that being said, you can't come here without already seeing the compound. If you are... More

We enjoyed this site and all of the information presented to us via museum rooms and extensive models and posters explaining the artifacts of their extensive collection of local history dating back to the 1100s. We spent so much time immersed in this castle/museum grounds and were impressed to view the Egyptian exhibit that was travelling around Hungary on loan... More

The castle has a mixture of visitor attractions, some are included in the entrance fee, others not. It offers a good combination of the history of the place and Hungarian history generally. Not all of the information is available in English. Excellent views of Eger are to be had from the castle walls.

Give yourself three hours to tour and experience the museum's and views of Eger. Many artifacts and wonderful audio-visual depictions of historic events. Also inexpensive.

Very nice view over the city. It's worth to enter as there are different museums with different exposition.
