The neo-classical architecture of the city centre stems from the city-wide destruction wrought in 1879 by a monumental flooding of the Tisa river - 95% of the city's 5700 buildings needed rebuilding. The Habsburg emperor at the time kept his promise that Szeged 'will be...More

Mora Ferenc Museum had a rather random selection of displays ranging from the history of Szeged to the evolution of homo sapiens. Another random looking section of South American animals and a section of renaissance-era paintings made up the rest of the museum.

Very good museum for permanent collection of works, traveling exhibits of shoes and posters of Hungary. Beautiful building and gardens. More than one half of exhibits were in English.

The museum has different parts on two floors. The building itself is beautiful. There are nice paintings, study of Mora Ferenc among others. Beside the permanent exhibitions there are also temporary ones. It is really worth visiting when in Szeged.

Despite on-and-off English signage, their current exhibition on Hungarian posters from the late 19th through the mid-20th century was fascinating and well presented, making me wish...More
