Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We observed the operation and purpose of this bridge by accident.
We walked into town over this bridge from the cruise ship dock and on the way back found it closed for foot traffic and open for boat/canal traffic.
Fortunately it stays closed only for a short time.
Two employees fit cranks to the center and move the bridge 90 degrees.
Interesting to watch.

When in Klaipeda, you should definitely see how this bridge is being turned! To turn it , two people are needed, and , yes, its turned by man not mechanically.

If you see the black ghost you will cross this bridge. It has character and apparently still operates (opens up to allow boats through). Nice because it has some charm and character

Bridge by the ghost and old mill. Nice area, bridge nothing special, but it can be exciting for kids, to see it move up and let small boats pass to the and out of the marina.

My wife and I disembarked our Cruise ship and this was one of our first sites- the Swing Bridge, built in 1855, as a Technical heritage object-- 2 people apparently turned the bridge so that ships could enter and exit the nearby castle. Used to be called The "Chain" bridge due to its many iron chains. Of interest though, is that the city erected a sculpture nearby of the "Black Ghost" seemingly climbing up the sides of the canal with a large lantern. This area and sculpture were featured on our City Map when we were there, along with other items to hunt for: the Magical Mouse, The Mermaid, the sailing ship Meridianas, and the dragon among others. The scavenger type hunt was a unique way to experience a city, in this case that of Klaipeda!

If you are on a cruise you have to cross this old swing bridge to reach the town. It is controlled by two men. It is open for walkers approximately 45 minutes of each hour, and open to boats and not walkers 15 minutes of each hour. Quite interesting to see.

If you are on a cruise ship you have to walk across the chain bridge to get to town & back to the ship. It is opened & closed several times a day by two men to let boats out of the canal.

Not a huge bridge but quaint. We walked across it basically to say that we had but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it. If you are passing, then worth a stop.
