Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Do all your research about this before you go. What you can do and where you can go is tightly restricted and rightly so. It's expensive to take a car to nida. €13 return on the ferry and €30 for road tolls. Only camping is in nida, 45km of bumpy tarmac. We had hoped to fatbike on the Baltic beach but it's controlled.... And a protected area. Only ferry is vente nida. Nothing from klaipeda.
So it's an "ok", not great, ok.

But.. epic food in juodkrante opposite the sports centre...

To enter by car and two people in the peninsula after the ferry you pay 30€ and it is acceptable. A little high instead the price of the ferry that for a few minutes of crossing asks 23€. Joudkrane’s architecture is perhaps even more beautiful than Nida’s, but it is certainly more pussy and VIP. The beach is definitely worth a visit, beautiful, of fine white sand, practically empty in mid-August, with the mythical dunes. Walking on the beach leads to the borders with the Russian area of Kaliningrad

Well worth the cost to make a day of it. The ferry from Klaipeda runs very frequently and isn’t too expensive however the local fee once you are there is way too high at 30 euros.

Regardless, it is a very interesting place to visit, especially if it is a nice day. The long Baltic Sea beach is a favourite place for locals and pleasant to stroll along.

I would have wished that I had known that there was a 30 EUR road toll for going there... On top of the 20,50 EUR ferry. But it's worth the cost :-)
The nature is wonderful and it is all so idyllic!lWe made a plan to start. i Nida and stop in all the small villages on our way.
Nida was the most impressive place and had many small cute places.
We saw some animals - we think it may have been a racoon dog, 2 foxes and some other animal.
It is a very nice place for families who likes bike riding to go stay for a couple of nights.

ATTENTION: Total tourist rip-off.
Ferry crossing from Klaipeda by car = 23,50€ for 4,5 minutes.

Then after about 5km towards Nidden suddenly a road closure, as in front of a military base. If you want to explore the island, it costs another 30€ Absolute mess. There is no indication at the ferry port, which must be paid twice and three times in addition to the unreasonable ferry price. Looking at the dunes, another 5€.
This is just the worst rip-off. Here we were for the first and last time. Doesn't need a human being, and so you don't get guests. I'm just mad now

WOW - what an experience! I took a tour of the Hill of Witches, after which we took a stop on the banks of the Curonian Spit. It was fiercely windy, but the sand was so beautiful and fine. We had to walk up quite a large wooden staircase to get over to the shoreline, and this may be a barrier of entry for some, so keep this in mind.

We visited during the off-season and were delighted with the solitude, the accessibility to the water, the roads wandering through the forests and the small resort villages. Much was closed but there were things to welcome. After looking at the migrating birds and hunting mushrooms, we had a lovely lunch and searched for amber on the beach. What a wonderful day!

If you are looking for a holiday spot which is pure, with unspoiled nature, endemic plants, broad spectrum of fauna, amazing beaches, good dosis of history and of course great food then you must visit Curonian Spit in Lithuania and its absolutely amazing town of Nida.
Curonian Spit is amazing for its colorful wooden cottages, desert-like sand dunes, beautiful beaches, crystal clear water and serenity.

Curonian Spit (Kursiu nerija) is one of the most spectacular places worth visiting in Europe. It is a narrow (from 0,4 km till 4 km wide) and long (97 km) band of sand, which stretches along the Baltic Sea, in the western part of Lithuania.

It is with its traditional fishermen town of Nida most western point of Lithuania. Nida lies just a few kilometres from Russia, its Kaliningrad Oblast.
A part of the Curonian Spit (overall 50 km) belongs to the Republic of Lithuania; the other part belongs to the Russian Federation. This sand dune peninsula separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. In order to preserve the most valuable landscape complexes, Kursiu nerija National Park was established there in 1991.

Curonian Spit has unique drifting sand dunes, the sea side forests are hundred-years-old pine trees, white sand beaches and amazing old fishermen villages. Humans had already settled in the Curonian Spit in prehistoric times. Scientists say that the Curonian Spit was formed by the wind and the waves of the Baltic Sea more than 7,000 years ago. The Curonian Spit was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2000.

Unique landscape, great beaches, nice villages Thomas Mann house. Easy to get there via ferry, operates every 20 minutes during the day and takes only a couple of minutes to cross. Typical forests on sand and great dunes. Endless beaches only busy across the few villages.

A small ride on/off ferry gets you to the Curonian Spit, there are many things to see on this spit of land. You have many beaches down on the Baltic side which actually add up to one long beach.. on the other side you have Dead Dunes and the shifting dunes, both are accessible with some boardwalks in place, they are well worth a visit.
If you like a forest walk stop at the little town of Juodkrante, there is a lovely walk through the forest called Hill of Witches following all kinds of wood carvings, ghoulish but fun. Have a meal or break in the town of Nida which is at the bottom of the spit which is lovely place with its colourful houses.
Well worth a good day on the Spit.
