sculpture is located in the heart of the city next to Klaipeda drama theatre. It is good place to visit and sit by the fountain.

This statue harmonizes the whole square - it is surrounded by beautiful and not big buildings, and represent a pretty good view for photo.

Although there are sculptures in every city or town, Klaipeda - in my opinion - really abounds in interesting and special or unusual ones. Annchen has been described in a well-known poem and was probably quite an inspiration for the poet who wrote it.

During a guided tour you will find Ännchen on the Opera place in front of a building, where Hitler held a speech; therefor Ännchen turned her back to the balcony.

Do not overthink this. It's a statue to someone 99.9% have never heard of. See it during your walking tour of then Old Town. The handicraft market is held around this Statue.

On the day I visited there were some stalls selling souvenirs from the city. In the building behind this statue the guide informed us that Hitler made a speech during the occupation of the country.

There is a story behind the statute which was once slated to be replaced with a statue of Hitler (who gave a speech from a balcony in a building behind it. Apparently the statue is well loved by the locals so ask about it if...More

Not sure if it's there just for cruise ships or on weekends (today is Sunday) but a local market was set up selling crafts, teas, soaps, and enough amber paraphernalia to sink a cruise ship. Not sure the authenticity of a $3 amber piece but...More

I've visited this square many times before but this Christmas it looks so magical! The sculpture is inside of the snow ball. Must visit before it is gone on Epiphany Day!

Interesting story behind the statute, and it's in the city square so you won't miss it. The balcony behind once hosted Hitler for a speech he gave so worth going if you're one for history.
