We spent two days touring Vilnius, Kedainiai, and Ariogala with Svetlana of Jerulita. It was time well spent and well worth the cost. Svetlana is informed and informative, indefatigable, engaging and accommodating. We learned a lot about the Lithuanian Jewish community then and now. That included those tragic few months when the Germans first arrived in Lithuania during WWII and enabled Lithuanians to do their worst to their Jewish fellow citizens.
We have engaged guides throughout Europe and they can sometimes be underwhelming. Not so with Svetlana: she is in the very Top Tier, a superlative guide and teacher.

Our tour guide Svetlana gave us very detailed explanation to every question we asked. We joined the virtual tour in Vilnius and have studies the history before, so we think we know a lot, but our tour guide gave us more information (lectures on history, different views of a historical event and stories behind the architecture) and took us to places where our family used to live. She is very knowledgeable! We highly recommend this tour.

The vast amount of knowledge that our tour guide had. She was multi lingual and with such a nice personality. Svetlana was a very compassionate and we could feel her enthusiasm every time we met with her. My wife, who was born in Vilnius, wanted to see her childhood home. Svetlana took us there, or what was left of it, and of course, my wife was overwhelmed at seeing it after over 60 years. All in all, this particular tour, both thru out the "Old Quarter" of Vilnius, as well as the Jewish Quarter, was the "crown jewel" of our trip.

My husband I were on a tour of the Baltic's and started in Vilnus. Our tour was not going to take us deeply into the Jewish history of Vilnus. Our grandparents came from Vilnus and we wanted to see and learn about the Jewish history. Thus, we came into Vilnus 2 days before our tour started and arranged with Jerulita Svetlana was knowledgable, and responsive to our needs and questions. She made sure we saw and learned what we wanted to see and experience. Could not asked for a better guide to show us Vilnus from a Jewish perspective.

My husband and I took a two week trip with Jerulita in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia this summer. Our tour guide, Erik, was very well informed and flexible. We had a general plan and reservations at fabulous hotels, but Erik was willing to change the details to deal with the weather, traffic and our interests. We learned a huge amount of history, had some wonderful meals, met some great people and had a great time!

In a group of 10 students, I recently toured Poland and Lithuania, exploring Jewish roots. In Lithuania we were guided by Jerulita's Svetlana. She was waiting for us (in the rain) when we arrived and took us around Vilnius. She was friendly, approachable, professional and most of all she really knew her facts! She was incredibly insightful and knowledgeable and made a lasting impression on each and every one of the tour participants. Highly recommend using Jerulita. Communication with Daniel was quick and helpful, making arrangements prior to the trip and having Svetlana with us on the trip was truly fantastic! She truly went above and beyond to give us the very best Vilnius experience!

Svetlana did a superb job making Jewish history in Vilnius come alive for us. She was very well informed, articulate, funny, and did a magnificent job pacing the tour and presenting the information. She did exactly what we hoped -- showing us the importance of what we were seeing, describing what life was like from the early 1900s through the Holocaust and beyond. This was like an exceptionally good college professor guiding us through actual streets and forests. My daughter and I left with a much better understanding of not only Vilnius and Lithuania but our Jewish culture. This will be a day of your visit very very well spent.

We did Jewish focused tours of Vilnius and Kaunas with Ernest, We felt as if we were touring with a local relative. He planned the tour perfectly and we learned so much about Lithuania, and the Jewish community before and after World War II. He also kept our teenagers engaged. We hope to return to the Baltic region soon and have Ernest show us more!

We had a large family group tour (10 people) in Vilnius/Kaunas for two days in early July, to explore family roots -- and had a thoroughly fantastic experience. In fact, I would say that for us as a family, it was a once-in-lifetime experience, and I'm very eager to share that experience with others.
We asked the staff at Jerulita to arrange a one-day tour of Vilnius (with emphasis on Jewish history), including a visit to Ponar; and a second day visiting the shtetl of our ancestors near Kaunas, plus a visit to the city of Kaunas itself. Everything was arranged perfectly: we were informed in advance who would be our guide (Ernest), and all transportation and timelines were set in advance, so the logistics were very simple from our point of view, and everything worked like clockwork.
The real difference maker, though, was Ernest -- he was simply wonderful, perhaps the best guide I have ever had. To begin with, he is very knowledgeable on a wide range of topics, which was important because as a group of ten people we had varying interests and asked all sorts of questions. He often knew how to make the information interesting, and has a wonderful sense of humor, and irony. He was also very flexible, and understood when we needed to rest/eat, and he knew how to cater to the needs of those aged 70+, as well as the young adults. Most importantly, he knew how to make the visit both personal and meaningful -- at times he shared the insights of a local, at other times posed interesting questions as food for thought, and yet at other times (such as at Ponar) knew when to give everyone space for personal reflection. The height of our trip, was when Ernest took us to a cemetery where we found the grave of a long-lost relative; here, as on other occasions, Ernest felt like our spiritual leader, or at least as the person who helped us navigate a very emotional family experience.
In short, I was very satisfied with the service at Jerulita, and I cannot recommend Ernest highly enough. He helped us have the experience of a lifetime.

Everything about this travel agency is top notch. The purpose of our trip was to find our family roots in Lithuania and Latvia. Before we started planning the trip they put us in touch with archivists there who who could look into the government archives that are not available to Americans. They planned a trip that combined old and new -- family and Lithuanian and Latvian history and some modern spots and national parks as well. The guides were very knowledgeable, spoke fluent English and answered every question. One had lived in the US, so we had many conversations comparing the two places. The guides were also able to rise to the occasion -- when I needed to see a doctor on a national holiday, the guide not only found me one, he also translated for me as the Latvian doctor did not speak English. If I could ever get our relatives to consider making a trip, I would go again and hire Jerulita!~
