This place is a must for anyone looking into their Jewish Family History in Lithuania

Rima and Aelita are an absolutely fantastic information resource about the Jewish history in Vilnius and elsewhere in Lithuania.
Lithuanian and in particular Vilnius History is complicated! So you cannot even expect a street name to be consistant. Russian, Polish, Soviet and Lithuanian names for the same street are not necessarily the same - this applies to family names, houses, businesses, and every aspect of life in Lithuania.
These people know where to find what you are researching, and can cross the language barriers for you - my russian is non-existant !
We went in looking for my wife's Gt Grandfather - the response was 'who was he' yes I know about him - he lived........
The wife and I were amazed !

Very helpful Staff

Located just across the road from the Monument to Zemach Shabad, the Jewish Cultural and Information Centre is a small, but helpful centre. To the right as you enter is a café area, which seems not to be in use, and to the left is the information centre. There are numerous free leaflets there and the lady on duty was very helpful and polite.

It is an information center (and incidentally an exhibition) which will inform you about places to visit, museums, synagogue or even streets of the former ghetto. It is therefore the first step for a historical and memorial journey in Jewish Vilnius.
