Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everything I'm going to say about Tallinn I'll start with the same word, magical! This beautiful street/alley that runs from the lower part of Old Town to the upper part and vice versa is located between two original walled walls. I highly recommend going early or taking advantage of the "bad weather" days to walk it in as much solitude as possible.

We walked from the Down-Town towards the Toompea Hill along the walls in this narrow street. It was originally built to allow a direct connection between the Toompea Hill and the harbour. We passed the stone gate tower which was used for various purposes. Nowadays it has housed artist’s flats and studios. The Long Leg is suitable for riders and carts while the Short Leg only could be used by pedestrians. It’s worth a walk, but you should wear comfortable shoes!

When we visited a handful of local arts were using the wall along this ancient cobbled street to display their work for sale. Sadly nothing to our taste but impressive all the same to get a feel for the history of this wonderful town.

This little cobblestone street heading up Toompea Hill is very nice. We enjoyed the artists with their work displayed on the wall for viewing, while passing by. We also enjoyed the quaint little archway that allowed entrance to Pikk Jalg prior to strolling up this narrow alley street.
When you head up to the hill, make sure to use this street as your means of approach or at least on the way back down, it is very nice.

There are two streets in Tallinn, Long Leg and Short Leg, which meet up at Toompea Hill. Long Leg is quite a climb, but there are usually plenty of artists selling thir work so you can just stop and catch your breath. Short Leg is actually more picturesque, with nice shops next to it.

We spent a day in Tallin with a guide arranged through Viking Cruise Lines. She was very informative, added humor to the tour, and you could sense the passion she had for her country. We stayed after the tour and enjoyed lunch on the Market square. The market was open and there were some really nice things to purchase.

This is a quaint, quiet little street going up the hill to Toompea Castle. There are artists and musicians to watch the whole way up!

One of the main streets connecting old downtown with upper town. On a daytime you can buy pictures of Tallinn painted mostly by local painters. A few movie scenes were shot at this street.

Lovely walk between Old Town and Toompea.
Try to take a walk here at night. The lighting and cobblestones are so lovely. It is nice to be on this passage all by yourself.
During the day, there were artists that hung their work along the wall and would sit on low stools drawing and painting. Their work was varied and unique and most of them were very pleased to share their art and their town.

Because of the name of two streets of different lengths - Luhike-Yalg (short leg) and Pikk-Yalg (long leg) - Tallinn is sometimes called a "lame city".
Built in the middle of the XV century at the junction of Pikk-Yalg and Luhike-Yalg in the upper part of the tower was locked from the Lower Town and served as a protection for the burghers who lived in the lower town, from the arbitrariness of knights and nobles of Vyshgorod.
