Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When I first walked in and paid the 5 euro to enter, I didn't know what I was paying for. There is an incredible, winding staircase that just keeps going. At the top, there is a wooden ladder-like staircase that takes you to a thin walkway that provides beautiful views of the city. I didn't realize there were folding chairs halfway up, or I would have used them. The climb is a real workout but worth it. Nowhere else do you find a view like this.

The Church is one of the oldest buildings in Tallinn (it was built back in the XII century, before the Danish invasion). It is seen from almost any place in the Old Cirty. We did not plan to go inside, but for some reasons did. Do yourself a favor and walk up (appr. 300 steps) to het a very different view of Tallinn - great experience.

St. Olaf’s Church was one of the tallest buildings in medieval Europe. They offer an opportunity to climb the 258 steps of a narrow winding staircase to the top. they only accept cash. some come prepared with your Euros or Dollars,Not recommended for small children, the elderly or those not in top physical shape. the church itself is gorgeous

My favorite thing to do when i only have a few hours to explore a new city is climb to the top of a high tower and see the city from above. I stumbled upon St Olaf’s church, did just that and was rewarded with a great view. The architecture is impressive and the twirling stone steps that lead you up were a lot of fun for me. But they’re tiny and narrow, so if you suffer from vertigo or claustrophobia like my brother, you will know to avoid. The first floor is lovely too so definitely go inside the church and enjoy!

I got in the church, bought some keychains to cooperate and a ticket to go up the tower (a must for the fit 😄). Then had the opportunity to hear the organ playing because the person was practicing 🎉. Then as I was going up to thr obervarion area 230 something steps I "bumped" into an adult and some children. The man asked me if I wanted to go into one of the areas of the tower with them because he was giving a provate tour to the children and of course I said yes!! It turned out to be the pastor of the church!! He was so kind and so where the children, it turns out his child was part of the group. When I asked about church services to attend he said Sunday was a special day with chior and of course I will go!! An amazing experience! 🙌🏻🎉🎊

View from the tower is spectacular. I am not that fit or sporty person but I took the 200 something steps to the observation platform in just 2 shoots with just one break for a couple of minutes. Very recommended to have a 360 amazing view from above all over the city

It is impossible to pass by it and not notice this structure, because theSt. Olaf's church (Oleviste kirik) is the tallest building in medieval Europe. Soaring to a height of 124 meters, the church spire was visible from afar and served as an excellent reference point for navigators. I recommend climbing the famous spiral staircase and seeing the city from above, but the climb is not easy! I remembered the legend about Master Olaf, who, as they say, sold his soul to the devil to build this endless staircase with a tower.

The church itself is of little interest, very bare inside and quite anonymous even outside. What is really worth visiting is its characteristic bell tower that allows you to have a 360-degree view of the entire city and in particular the old city. There are about 250 steps, the cost to climb the tower is 5€. Admission to the church is free.

In the lower town you could find this majestic chuck wich its tower could be seeing from every part of the city thanks to its 124 metres high.
It's a mandatory visit on your trip and you will not be disappointed because the views are one of the best in the city and inside is magnificent. Get up to the top could be difficult, and and tough time but it worth it.

This historic church is a must see. Your Tallinn card includes admission and the hike to the top if you want to. Built in the 12th century. The staircase to the top is all stone, spiral and narrow with breathtaking views when you reach the top.

Hi there,
Does anyone have any idea how many steps it is to the top to the viewing platform please?
Written 6 December 2023
256 steps, if I remember correctly. It may be challenging for older people but it is manageable otherwise.
