About
There’s lightning in the air at the 100-year-old power plant and science centre for the whole family in the heart of Tallinn. Energy Discovery Centre features daily lightning shows unique in Northern Europe, static electricity demonstrations, over 100 hands-on exhibits, and Planetarium screenings. Learn about electricity, energy production, and have fun with different physical phenomena. All the instructions to the exhibits are in English, Finnish and Russian as well as Estonian. The Planetarium features films narrated in all four languages. The lightning and static electricity demonstrations are performed in Estonian, Russian and English. The Centre is a 5-minute walk from both Tallinn Old City Harbour and Tallinn Old Town.

Not too big but fun museum themed around electricity production mostly, however other things present too. The first floor or rather basement floor is mostly various interactive exhibits to play with light and sound, as well as optical illusions with explanation of an effects given nearby of each of those exhibit. Also small planetarium is here - you have to pay separately, and space themed corner. Second floor dedicated to electricity, also lightning and static electricity demonstrations performed here. With it's vicinity to Old Town it maybe a nice place to take a breath and rest a bit while kids are checking around, it maybe interesting for all but mostly, I think it is for young schoolchildren up to their early teens.

Our 6 - 11 years old grandchildren liked the Energy Discovery Center a lot. There was so much to do, to try and to see. We spent three hours there but for the planetarium unfortunately we did not have time. The Center is interesting also for adults.

Quite small, you could easily see everything in half an hour. My kids (2- and 4-years old) had somewhat good time playing around the varioud gadgets though. Still, if you have time for only one attraction, I would recommend nearby Lennusadam instead.

This old powe plant survived Hitler and Stalin but not the Greenies! There is hands on displays and is very educational for ages. There is a charge of nine euro for adults and 7 euros for pensioners and children

Lovely museum close to the old town centre, close to the sea. This attraction is included in the Tallin card attractions so we visited it for free. Very well kept, interesting for adults and kids, they give you s bracelet st the entrance and you can visit the 2 floors full of interesting things about the energy. Many funny things to touch and try, very didactic place. We enjoyed the demonstration about the Faraday cage. Nice place to spend a couple of hours. Recommended

We went to Tallinn on 31st of December, so most of the museums were closed, but Energy Discovery Centre worked and we get 2 EUR discount per person, so we decided to visit it. The exhibition (second floor) was interesting for me as an adult, the first floor is dedicated mostly for children, but is quite enjoyable. Sad that some of the attractions is not working.

This museum used to be OK years ago until they spent money on it to create the dogs dinner of exhibits that they now have. Although mainly aimed at young children it was obvious there that the young children weren't interested. Interactive exhibits (when they work) are randomly positioned with no logic or proper explanations to them. A number of the explanations in English were also missing for some reason. For heavens sake this is an old power station so rather than just leaving random lumps of old generator equipment lying around why not cut it away so we can see inside it? Why not have a fully interactive process display of a working power station? By far and away the winner of most pointless and useless exhibit is the Soyuz launch room with a few chairs and a televised Soyuz launch on small screen. You would get more excitement from watching it on You Tube on your phone. It is a waste of money and time for 9 Euros per person. There are much more interesting things to see and do in Tallinn than this badly organised and unimaginatively managed museum.

Went with my two year old, had lots of fun. Also very learning for kids in all ages. Medium ticket prices, extra tickets for movies in planetarium.

Similar to Ahha centre in Tartu only smaller. Interesting also for adults. There are lightning shows (1 min) and possibily to try static electricity on yourself (3 times a day). There is planetarium inside but it was closed. Very close to the old town, near the Fat Margaret. Fee 9 EUR but we got discount from booking.com so paid 7eur per person.

I stepped in just because this was one of the very few museums open on Monday, so I didn't expect too much. Turned out it's greater than I thought. Many interesting displays about physics, plus history of the old Tallinn city power plant, which is where the center is located now. Also friendly staff who recommended me other places to visit in Tallinn.
