A symbolic monument to the greatest ?Estonian astronomer. Not worth a special visit, but worth looking at when visiting the Old Observatory.

To see this arch needs walking up the hill. If you like to walk and see the city from above, it would be a nice activity.

Monument is quite modern, but the area around and the hill where Struve worked is worth to look at! And try to feel or to imagine Struve's triangulation chain at the beginning of 19th century.

When you visit this monument you really must hear the story behind it, just above is the Observatory which itself has extremely interesting history.

If you make the University of Tartu Observatory one of the sites you visit, then you will see the geodetic arch. It is a concrete structure honoring the scientist.
