Took the train from Riga to Jurmela ( Stoka train from memory platform 3), it cost around 6€ return for 2 adults and a 12 year old- younger son was free. We were expecting there to be a station called Jurmela but thankfully after a quick check of our tourist map we realised Jurmela actually covers various stations, we got... More

The beach is very good, but its not the matter of the beach, but the matter of the sea. Baltic Sea is quite cold, you can not get more then + 20 C, so swimming is not very comfortable, but sunbathing on the beach is perfect.

I like to walk here. Come to here out of season period. Walk and dream. If you're a poet the new poem will be created. If you're a cook the new dish idea will strike your mind. Walk. Live. Here is the place.

Wide sandy beach. When we went there was picturesque sea ice everywhere. Easy access via well signed paths to Jonas iela.

We`ve been there at the beginning of May, so it was quite abandoned and cold. Still beach seems to be good enough for summer times.

We visited Jurmala while on our trip to Riga- it's really easy and cheap to get there from Riga train station. Only €1.15 one way and you're there in 30min. Long sandy beach with a beautiful view. We where there in December but will try to come summertime as well

In december it was windy, but the sand didn't rise, so there was no compilations. I like Jurmala, it is good in winter, but better in summer ;)

Good view on Baltic sea. Windy but lovely beach with snow and sand combined together. There are many old buildings on the coast.

Wherever I go, it doesn't matter how cold it is, if there's the sea, I'll be right there! Riga is a nice city, but my favourite day in Latvia was definitely the visit to Jūrmala: I took a train from Central Station Riga, a very typical Soviet Union train, amazing if you want to breathe the essence of the country.... We went to Majori on the train from Riga, and although there was snow on the beach, it was magical. Baltic..you could say :)
