A central and beautiful square. Near the banks of the river and the bridge connecting the two parts of the city is this square which is the starting point of many tours. You will find the charming structure of the black heads and more

There are some nice buildings to look at around the city hall square. When I was there, I saw a folk band playing and it was worth hanging out there for a little while.

Seeing all the buildings at the Town Hall Square gives you a real "Riga feeling", for there are some of the nicest buildings of the city. It is really worth going there, even if you are just looking at the houses or taking pictures of...More

The market has not much to offer. There is the Roland statue, a statue of the first Christmas tree (of Riga) and the Blackheadsbuilding. Young people often play folklore for tourists. After WW II most of the market was destroyed. The Blackheadsbuilding was beautiful rebuild...More

This building has quite an impressive facade and stands on a typical town square. The building itself plus the surrounding buildings were all destroyed during WWII so you are seeing reconstructions, albeit nicely done so you definitely have the charm of the old buildings. There...More

Unlike many European historical areas that are filled with junky souvenir stands, the area really stands out. The buildings are beautiful and you feel as if you are going back in time.

In comparison to the total size of Riga, its Old Town occupies a rather large portion of it. It has its main axis that people converge on… but its charm often resides in its off-streets and hidden areas. Take time to wander many hours in...More

The only real reason to go here is the House of Blackheads and if you wish to visit the Tourist Information. Town Hall itself is not very impressive and the ugly Occupation Museum of Latvia is also situated on this square.
