You should visit this place if you are in Riga. This is the biggest market in Riga. You will be able to find here: antiquities, fish, fruits, different meats, medicines, foods, clothes in affordable price. There is a restaurant where you will be able to eat local fresh food. One more important thing, I felt this place safe even I... More

Lots of goods on offer and some bargains to be had. You can get a good donut and the small bars are nice to stop at.

This is one of the highlights of Riga. Yes, it is different than the shopping supermarkets most of the western world has - but it's not so different to the eastern world (eastern eu i mean). Well, maybe it's a "bit" bigger. I't a very nice feeling to walk there and see local produce and real latvian people shopping there... More

Perhaps I am being a bit harsh, but for me this is not a 'must see'. Mind you, I have seen a lot of markets around the world. It is certainly authentic Latvia, full of locals, not so many tourists. If you are on your way to the Academy of Science then definitely walk through the market, as we did,... More

Central market is the place that has always been there regardless political or historical issues. It became more modern nowadays with Western Europe influence which has brought new food and snacks, but if you are from Riga you go there not only for price, you go there for variety. Of course be prepared for different type of public which also... More

Popular markets are the real thermometer of economics, mirror of culture, mine of diversity... And this one doesn't come short. Albeit quite uniform in the offer, which makes the visit quite quick, it is certainly genuine in spirit. If you like tasty cheap fried greasy culinary experience, find the "ceburek" stand at the end of the meat pavilion, on the... More

Yes it is big! but for me it is just a market. Nothing special. Many of the market stands sell the same stuff.

A massive open air market with clothing, shoes, boots, outdoor apparel, fishing goods, flowers, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, and anything else available for sail. If you've had enough of museums, cathedrals, and old city Europe, this is a good diversion. For us, the fish market was particularly entertaining because they sell every type of salt and fresh water fish imaginable.

There are some bargains to be had at the central market. Get down in the morning from 8am to get fresh products at a great price. The majority of stalls sell their own products, which have been grown or reared locally and brought to the market that day. Try the smoked chicken too, its a local delicacy and actually tastes... Largest in Europe. Variety of products- especially good fish and meet pavillions. Choise is much bigger than in supermarket, but not always cheaper. The best time to visit a market is morning hours- than you have more choice. Despite it is open until 19:00, the majority of sellers are already off at 17:00 and some pavillions are closing, so at...
