The place has atmosphere - sort of half medieval and half classy bar. Black Balsam itself is pretty vile, but I did use it successfully to treat a cold (on the advice of my guide). And the chocolates were excellent - I wish this place...More

Finally found a shop with cream for my coffee instead of milk! So nice for a change. Tried a few truffles - Amazing! Atmosphere/theme was unique. Reminiscent of Harry Potter. Worthwhile to visit.

Another friendly and lively bar in the old town. Central to the sights and interestingly presented. Prices are normal for a beer at 4/5 euro up.

I stopped by after reading some great reviews of the Black Magic Bar on TripAdvisor. The bar is almost a misnomer, as I would consider it a unique high-end coffee shop/dessert stop that serves liquors. There were numerous families present, and all were enjoying themselves....More

Place has been decorated well with faded frescos on the walls and waitresses in period dress. Coffee is lovely- beware of the black balsam(but very palatable with cream). Basement area looks good but when we went there no-one was down there. Also closes at 10pm...More

We went and sat downstairs and had some cocktails and deserts. The theme was very good and played along to being haunted. Staff were lovely and as were the drinks and food. Would recommend to anyone visiting Riga. Would be nice to explore putting some...More

Take 5 to 25 ml of Riga balsam, coffee, dessert and that's all that's boring for your girlfriend to be supportive of you!
