Having already "done" Auschwitz the other major attraction within the Krakow area is the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Before we went we spoke about this to other tourists who had visited it and all were universal in their praise. We were collected from our hotel by a 24 seater minibus and arrived at the mine about 20 minutes later. There is... More

20 mins on train from Kraków (3zl PP each way) and 5 min walk From station. A must see attraction if you are staying in Kraków. Dress for the cold - but not too much as it is warmer once you get down. We just got a guided tour 84zl and with railway so handy - there is no point... More

A fascinating place with an array of huge caverns and beautifully sculptured statues and scenes. Our English speaking guide Matthew was hilarious and made the tour even more memorable. We walked for about 2.5 hours (so you will need a level of fitness especially after the 384 steps down). You tour an array of caverns which are simply huge. They... More

Recently visited Krakow with the girlfriend, my second visit to the city, and one of the attractions I wanted her to see was the Salt Mines. It's a tour that takes roughly 2-2.5 hours and involves a LOT of walking, this isn't a problem and you don't realise how much walking is involved because your constantly looking at different displays... We were looking forward to visiting the salt mine, however, the experience far exceeded what we were even expecting. We took the tourist route with an English tour guide and loved every second. The tour lasted for around two hours and was priced at 84 Zloty (around £16). We learnt a lot about the salt mining industry in the area... More

We recently visited Krakow and had been recommended to visit this unusual place. After catching the 304 bus from the city centre, half an hour later we were at the mine. It was very close to the bus stop and easy to find. We didn't book ahead and had a tour with a guide called Matthew, he was very knowledgable... More

Visited here on Friday 2nd December at approx 10.00 am. The Salt mine was very busy as it was closing early afternoon as was the miners bank holiday, or something on them lines. We got going quickly and assembled into our tour groups and went down the hundreds of steps into the mine!! It's not very difficult, the steps are... More
