If you're a student then take your student card as this gets you a good discount!! Quick walk from the train station which you can get to from the main Krakow station.

The Wieliczka Salt Mine, located in the town of Wieliczka just 30 minutes from Krakow, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the tours are simply spectacular. The mine, built in the 13th century, features amazing attractions that include statues, three chapels and an entire cathedral that has been carved out of the rock salt by the miners. The mine... We were brought 135 metres under ground to view the various caverns of the salt mines. Lots of steps on the way down but thankfully a lift on the way up. The main chapel is really beautiful and highlight of the trip. Beautiful souvenirs and a cafe on site. Tour guide was really funny and interesting. Beautiful sculptures and lakes... More

Guided tour was fine: good timing, well explained, very nice guy and his spanish was really good. Some caves are amazing. It's the closest place to Moria i've ever seen, for LOTR fans. Perhaps a little bit expensive for low budget.

Felt a little rushed at times on the guided tour. A relatively expensive tour but still worth the visit. I wouldn't recommend for children.

Very impressive trip - could not believe the size of the Salt Mines - tourists only go down 3 levels out of 9 but certainly deep enough - steps at the start going down shaft seem to go on forever but once you've done this the corridors and walkways are fine - there are shops, chapels and restaurants and you... Great experience and a marvel at the skills of man, carved out without all the technology available to us in the modern day! We had thought to go on an organised tour from Krakow (130 Zolty), instead chose to get the train from Krakow Glowny to Wieliczka RY for 7 Zolty for the two of us, 20 minute ride on... More

Nice place, worth visiting it. Get the train from krakow and be there in 30'.You have to get a guide(included in the ticket fare).ticket is expensive( 84 zlt)and photo and video are extra (10 zlt).walking fast would be a nice idea. The way out is weird (crowded elevator). My first visit in a saltmine was finally a nice experience

About 30min in minibus from city centre this is a very interesting place to visit. Be aware you do have to walk down 800stairs & walk around 2.5km - all pretty briskly, however well worth it. .
