    A good outdoor play experience
Visited due to visiting friends near by and we both had energetic kids who needed energy to burn which this place offered. Even though the outside area was wet and damp, ensure your well dressed and there’s still enough the play with. Making your own den is definitely a must. The 2 zip lines were good too. The indoor play area is very natural focused and holistic which interested my 2 boys for the whole time. We booked on the science talk which was engaging. We also made use of the other activities put on by staff who were very friendly. There is a cafe that we used, good choice for kids. But there wasn’t many options for a light lunch option. I would like to return when the weather is warmer and the outside fields are drier as I am sure there’s a lot more fun.

    Amazing
Visited Wed 14th Feb. Never been before. From the minute you arrive at the well laid out carpark, you can see they’ve well thought out this place. It was fab. So much to do and so imaginative. The staff are wonderful. We did the family challenge and balloon car making. We adored the indoor den complete with rain, water stream and sand. So much to do outside too. The science show was great and the food on offer with the restaurant quality clay pizza oven was fab. They also make 25 flavours of ice cream on site. Can’t wait to return when its dryer and spring time so we can do more activities outside. Highly recommended.

Toddler Morning and Fun at Williams Den
We recently visited Williams Den after being enticed by their new Toddler sessions, and what an incredible experience it was! From the moment we pulled into the well-designed car park, it was evident that the place was crafted with care, compassion, and considerable thought. The ample parking, wide bays, and accessible parking spaces made our arrival hassle-free. The toddler session offered two engaging play sessions and use of both the indoor and outdoor fantastic facilities. As lunchtime approached, we headed to the restaurant. With a vegan and a vegetarian in our party, we often struggle to find quality food at family-friendly places. However, Williams Den exceeded our expectations. The menu had a plethora of choices, and the food turned out to be not only diverse, reasonably priced but also absolutely delicious. We arrived right at the 10 am opening and found ourselves among the last to leave. It's a testament to the captivating environment and the myriad of activities available. Don't forget to take your wellies and a change of clothes; you're in for a fantastic day. In terms of value for money Williams Den truly delivers. We left with happy hearts, full memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommended for families seeking a delightful day out!

    Any weather!!!
Love this place! 10/10 and even more so now that they are really inclusive to people with allergies. The ice cream stand ladies were exceptionally good at identifying cross contamination risks for my little one who had an epi pen for a milk allergy, and even went as far as getting brand new stock out for us. The indoor play area is fab as are the outside areas. Really impressive and the staff always happy the help. The cafe is lovely too!!!!

    Wait for the sun
We visited Sunday 5th May. The weather was dry and sunny. We did wait to check this before booking tickets. Glad we did, because if it was raining it wouldn't have been as much fun as most activities are outside. Outside you have a huge sand pit with a water pump which the kids loved making a stream in the sand. You also have ziplines, tyre swings, hills and tunnels, perfect for young kids. Inside there is another water stream and we'll maintained climbing area with sand pit area again. Make sure you take spare clothes including shoes and socks. The snack bar is a waste of time. Was a bankholiday weekend so was busy, but 2 girls trying to deal with loads of orders was painful to watch. took 15minutes to wait for them to make a cup of tea and coffee. All in all, a fun place for the kids to run around. Would defo return whilst the kids are still young (7years & 3years)

    I wouldn't change a thing!
I just got back from the Williams Den big campout festival, and it was amazing. From the amazing and accommodating staff at the campsite check-in to Big Andy helping out on the campsite to every single member of staff that we interacted with over the 3 days, we were an absolute credit to the place. Having been before for the day, we thought we knew what to expect, but those expectations were massively exceeded. Everything was excellent: the events, the timings, the entertainment, the camping facilities. There was nothing I could even begin to think of grumbling about. The place was packed, and the staff rushed off their feet, but they were always lovely, always had time, and were great with the kids. Had the pleasure to speak to the owners, who were so down to earth and approachable (they had been scrubbing pots in the back to help out) It's a great family-run place that we love to visit. We will be back for the campout and, no doubt, a few visits between then, too.

    Camp and play
5* for the play and camp package. If you want luxury toilets and showers this place is maybe not for you but they are new, tidy and very clean. As described it’s more of a relaxed sort of wild camping. We chose a nice spot away from everyone else and we had so much space for the kids to play. The whole place is very clean and tidy and plenty for u day 10s to do. We would certainly camp here again .

Excellent family friendly festival. 5 stars!
4 families all had an excellent time at The Big Camp Out, July 19th-21st. Perfect way to start the school holidays. Everything has been carefully thought out, the timings of the events, were perfect, repeating the same schedule for the 2 days meant we could cover everything. African drumming, circus tricks, bushcraft skills and more. The indoor area was perfect during super hot times (or if it rains), the outdoor area including stick den building, zip lines, hay bales mazes kept the kids entertained. Music all weekend was excellent, Taylor Swift impersonator went down a treat, but our fave was the female saxophonist on Sunday night, incredible. Campfire songs and hilarity, before retiring to a well maintained and peaceful campsite. Facilities included wash up area, immaculate portaloos and showers with enough hooks to hang all your bits, and wash looking up into the blue sky. Food and ice creams were all delicious. Staff are incredible, and it's clear to see that everyone loves working there and being part of the team. 6 adults and 4 kids absolutely loved this beautiful place, great vibe, family owned and well thought out in every aspect. Can't fault it, and will be back next year! Thanks WD!

    Great day out, spoiled
Great day out, spoiled by two things. adult entry fee £12.70(inc booking fee) I think is extortionate, considering all you can do really is watch your children. The other is the price of the café £13 for a pizza for example, if feeding a family the cost would be very high.

Wonderful experience ‘Pitch Up & Play’
We took our 2 grandsons (3 & 8) this weekend and chose the ‘Pitch Up & Play’. We stayed for 2 nights. The camp site was well maintained, with plenty of space! We arrived at 6pm on Friday and had hoped to take the kids for pizza on site only to discover it’s only open until 5pm.. so we popped out to the local pizza takeaway! Unfortunately the onsite camping facilities proved challenging with children. The toilets were portaloo’s which are really small when trying to navigate with a child in tow! The shower experience was the toughest part.. managed to get the water to run warm get the kids all lathered up with shampoo and the water went cold! Tried another cubicle but still no hot water.. So I ended up with 2 crying children and tensions ran high for a while.. We went in the play park from 10am Saturday morning and left at 5pm! The kids had a lovely time (so did we)! It’s definitely a place for kids and adults to use their imagination, make up games and keep active! There’s lots of activities through the day and the kids enjoyed the water gun games, the welly wanging, the treasure hunt and jumping around the hay bales! The indoor area gave us adults chance to grab a coffee and cool off in the shade while the kids played with other children! Food & drinks was expensive and as we were camping on a site without any electric on two really hot days we were not prepared with pack up, so we did buy food there for lunch which delicious but was expensive (£45 for chicken flatbread, pizza and two children’s meals). I would recommend taking a pack up if you are there for the day or have coolers if camping! Overall we had a wonderful two days and we all came back exhausted but there are cheaper options for similar experiences.

Visited today and so disappointed with the service there. To say they have an offer on which will undoubtedly bring in more people, they were understaffed and had ran out of sandwiches by 12 o'clock. I ordered a packup box for my daughter who is 3 and they only had a ham sandwich left, the ham was thick and full of fat so my daughter ended up eating only bread. They offered me fruit to go with it but only had the choice of 1 satsuma or 2 what looked like grapefruits! I ordered a toastie which was £4.95 and I have never had such a poor example of a toastie before with a very poor choice of flavours. It will have cost them no more than 25p to make it so am actually disgusted that they can charge that much. The staff had no clue about what flavour sandwiches were on offer and did not know if any other sandwiches would be made (the queue behind me was enormous so I dread to think how they felt when they got to the front after waiting probably 30 minutes to get served!). This was also the place to get a hot drink so you had to queue for that long just for a drink. Absolutely shocking.

Very over priced. Our first and only visit today. Visited today on the hottest day of the year. We pre booked for 2 adults and 2 children to the indoor play area unfortunately our 18month old fell asleep in her pram before our allocated time. When we tried to enter the indoor area my partner was told you cant take prams inside even with a child asleep in it. It's under covid restrictions so is reduced capacity and there was lots of room for prams around the edges but the staff didnt care. Made my partner stay outside in the heat with my daughter in her pram whilst I supervised my son inside. Surely common sense would have helped the staff on this occasion but they wouldn't listen to reason. Wont be attending again. It's just a glorified play park.

My wife and I took our two kids and their grandmother to Williams Den. The 75 pounds entrance fee included the 39 pounds required for the 3 adults to sit and watch the 2 kids playing in the adventure area.

This doesn't make any sense in terms of value for money. Surely adults should be welcome to enter and supervise their kids at no (or minimal) cost. My 79 year old mother wasn't quite up to trying out the flying fox or climbing apparatus and indeed the desk staff conceded that prices for adults were high to encourage a high child to adult ratio (which again doesn't really make sense assuming there is money to be made from adult spectators via the on-site cafe)

In fairness, staff were willing to allow us to refund two of the adults entry so they could leave, with one adult remaining to supervise the children (at a cost of 13.95). It's therefore 2 stars from me.

William's Den is not for me based on this (lack of) value proposition. If you're comfortable forking out 13 quid to sit on a bench for a couple of hours then it may be worth your visit.

On the way in a family were leaving and i overheard the mum say, no wonder its quiet because its so expensive. She was not wrong. Disappointing and not worth the money. Travelled with a 12 yr old and 3 yr old. Ice cream parlour pretty pricey, and alot of tubs were empty, but what we had was nice except for the chocolate milkshake. The pizza place is the only thing on site serving food and literally serves pizza only - no kids menu, bringing a picnic is the only option really. The 'wrap shack' serves drinks, crisps and cake, £1.50 for a can of pop, it was closed by 3pm and that meant the queue for a drink in the icecream parlour was long. My 3 yr old enjoyed himself running around in the open outdoor space. The indoor area was different, water, sand and climbing but not very big and it was busy as the adults aswel as children were on it as it wasnt the type of play area to sit and watch the younger ones. No separate toddler area either. The price we paid for a family of 4 was extortionate for the very basic activites available. We will not return. Nice views, and it has so much more potential.

Had a great morning here with our two year old. I paid £18.85 for two adults and one toddler, which was reasonable. He had lots to do ranging from outdoors to indoors and we didn’t find ourselves at a loss for anything to do whilst there at all. He is just over two years old and at times the indoor play was too challenging, if you have a toddler they need to have good motor skills to navigate some of it. Would like an explanation on pricing because if I go back on to rebook the price is over £30?

Arrived half an hour early to pick up my great niece and wanted to sit with her mum, have a coffee and watch her play for a few minutes. I was told (very politely though) that I would have to pay £13.50 to do that. With the coffee at a fiver I thought that was a bit much really.
I’ve heard so many parents say they would visit on a weekly basis if they could afford it.
The place is brilliant and I’m not suggesting that the owners should bring it down to soft play status, I just can’t understand why the price is so high for adults. It doesn’t seem fair. Could there not be a concession for the additional adults at least?
The poor girl on reception was very patient with my shock reaction. It really was shock. By the way, I may not have been stung by the price as I sat in the coffee shop instead of watching my great niece, but I was stung by a wasp as I drank my coffee. There were lots of them about.

Visited as a family of four; two adults and two children. We arrived at 2:30pm as Google suggested the venue was less busy after this time. Also, with it being the middle of a heatwave, we thought it best not to be there when the sun was at its fiercest.

The car park had plenty of space, which suggested that the venue shouldn't be too crowded, and this turned out to be the case.

Each child ticket was nearly £15 and each adult ticket was nearly £11 so we spent neary £52 in entrance fees. Whilst the play facilities for the children are good, they are not worth £15 a ticket. As there are no facilities for the adults (except maybe the cafe where you spend even more money), then £11 is not good value at all.

To put it into persepctive, I could spend a quarter of the money and take the children to a soft play, trampoline park or inflatable play, where they would have an experience comparable to the indoor play area. After that I could take them to an adventure playground for free and they would have just as good a time as they did in the outdoor play area.

There's not enough here to keep them occupied for a whole day, or even half a day. We spent two hours and that was enough before they were getting fed up. That's £7.50 an hour for each child to play and £6.50 an hour for each adult to sit at a picnic table.

I'm sorry to keep coming back to the money but the issue with William's Den is the charging policy. The amount an adult has to pay is ridiculously high, meaning that you really don't feel you have value for money. If they wish to keep the admission fees as they are presently, then there needs to be more for the grown ups to do than sit on a bench and there needs to be more for the children to do in order to make the visit last more than two hours, therefore giving more value for money.

Iv recently had my sons 6th Birthday party at the Den … and wow !!!
It was one off the hottest day and the kids loved it , been able to come in and our off the sun splashing in the water and just have a huge space to run and play freely and safely, the staff were great , present but not to much the food was fantastic for the kids and adults too ,the drink for the kids were brought regularly, you have hide out at the top off the tree house to your self which is so good , because it means you have a base for the kids to come and go !! And a fun place to eat and catch a breath … I know when you look at the price you think it maybe a little costly but partys at home have cost me more because you over spend to try keep them entertain for the day and I very much doubt the enjoy them as much as they did The Den.. no bordem what so ever kids love to just play and have fun and thats all they need to have a good time … its great that the adults can come too as not all preants want to leave there children, and the Birthday boy got to bring both me and his Dad ..
I can not rate this enough for a party .. ( one family even camped out to make a trip off it ) 10/10 …
Will definitely be doing this for my yonger childs Birthday too

William's Den is brilliant! We are a family of four - our sons are 7 and nearly 3yrs and we all had an amazing day when we visited this week whilst on our summer holiday in East Yorkshire.

I'll admit that initially I was a bit skeptical due to the entry fees being higher then I wanted to spend (the four of us cost £58 and that was because we were able to still get an under 3yrs ticket for my youngest) but by the end of the day I would say it is definitely good value for money. We were one of the first families to arrive and leave! We loved the indoor playing area and spent at least three hours in there over the course of the day. Luckily we visited on a dry and sunny day so we were able to make full use of the outdoor fun: den making, zip wires, hay bale frivolity, outdoor climbing/tubes, go karts/ride ons, outdoor play area & sandpit, mud kitchen and my boys favourite section, the skate and scooter ramps. This area was well managed by staff and I love that safety equipment is standard and that it was policed fairly but still had a relaxed feel. The karts weren't manned though which did mean we had to wait upwards of 10-15 minute's sometimes as there was only four and not everyone manages well with turn taking at times but that's not a fault of the establishment.

We took our own food to keep costs down so I cannot comment on the food or pricing of this but we did get a brew each and it was about average price (£5.50 for two drinks). There was plenty of decent outdoor seating for lunch to be had and areas for picnic blankets too.

The toilets were clean, tidy and plentiful. I really liked the parent and child in one bigger cubicle toilets too.

We did bypass the gift shop much to the disappointment of the boys but we'd reached our budget for the day by that point.

All the staff were approachable and seemed genuinely interested in interacting with the children. My youngest particularly loved meeting Giant William too and I loved that staff offered free fun like a water fight on the hay bales although my two were too embroiled in den making to take part.

Both my boys keep asking when can we come back to Williams Den so we are absolutely adding it to our list of places to come back to. Great day out! I am not sure if my fair weathered children would enjoy it as much in the rain but with the right outdoor gear I bet you could have as good a time in less than ideal weather conditions.

Visited here as 2 parents with an 8 year old. She was instantly bored - if we had taken her to our local park she would have had more fun. That has zip wires and tyre swings etc. Other than a pile of rocks to climb up and jump off I'm not sure what Williams Den offers which is different.
Granted, there is no indoor play at the moment but in my opinion the outdoor area should be charged at 2 - 3 ££ per person rather than 7 - 8 ££ per person. It really is nothing special at all.

Felt a bit of a waste of time as we travelled quite a distance to come here and must have spent about an hour at most.
The website isn't clear at all on quite how simple and bare the play area is.

Hi there. Closure of our unique Indoor Den and Covid related restrictions have created difficult operational challenges but thankfully the vast majority of our visitors thoroughly enjoy their visit to William's Den, partaking in valuable family time and playing together. We have added our beautiful Woodland Walk (with additional den building area) but it appears you did not venture down there which is a shame. Our visitors spend an average dwell time of circa 3 hours with us at the moment, so that's around £2 an hour which is not expensive considering the restrictions and additional covid related work that is required daily. I should also remind you that we are a privately run business - not a publicly funded local park - so I think we can justify our charges as being extremely reasonable.
