Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well, what can I say. We visited Strbske Pleso in January 2019, just prior to covid. All ski runs were open, food places aplenty, fabulous snow conditions. We’re here again now- December 2022. What a change and not for the better! We paid full price for the ski lifts but for some not well explained reason, only some lifts are open. The two main chair lifts to Solisko are closed. Well, they’re running so you can go up but not to ski. So you’re limited to the small chair lift on the left, the large and little poma and that’s it. Very limited and soon gets boring, especially if you’re staying for 6 nights like we are. But of course, they don’t offer partial refund. Additionally to this, the lights around the lake are not working for most part (they used to) so if you want to walk around in the night, you can do so in the darkness).
They will need to do a lot better here if they want to attract tourists; particularly international ones. Austria next door has far better conditions and for better price and quality too.
I think this is our last time visiting this place.

Went with the family for hiking. Trails are worn at this stage and almost impossible to negotiate with the crowds; that's to be expected but what is most disappointing is the filth. Toilet paper, rubbish and all manner of trash discarded everywhere. The services (toilets, for example) are non-existent at the starting points so no wonder people are just using the trails. Visit Slovakia twice yearly to hike in the lesser-known Fatra mountains. Probably only a matter of time before the masses destroy that too, but until then, I'll continue to enjoy what this wonderful country has to offer.

Largest tourist trap in Slovakia. Nothing open after 16:00, high prices, abysmal quality of services, mediocre and expensive skiing, dirty and ugly shops and a pathetic sightseeing tower with a view to nowhere. The obvious aim is to extract as much from the customer at one moment as possible with no customer lifetime value concept adopted. This is how tourism by Tatry mountain resorts looks like. Big shame as the nature is magnificent.

Hiking is absolutely fantastic on this area. Cable car (regular ski chair lift) was bit pricy, 52 euros for family of four (2018).
Services were worst in Slovakia. There were guys forcing us to park to some hotel backyard kilometers before the official parking area. They ripped 6 euros and tried to steal 10 euros in exchange.
Food was another disaster. All decent places were overcrowded and snack bars delivered only terrible junk food.
So just be prepared with parking and food and you will have wonderful trip!

Strbske pleso lake is beautiful either in the summer or in the winter. This year we went there during winter, there is lots of attractions, stalls with mulled wine, grog, special meals, market with souvenirs.

Beautiful lake with nice walk around it. Surrounded by mountains. Not far from closest parking place and restaurant. No any entry fee required. Accessible also for disabled. Small kids will enjoy.

This was our first experience walking in snow. Our 9 year old daughter loved the walk around a frozen lake. She had fun playing with the snow.
A walk around the frozen lake in its purest white is an experience of a life time.
I would highly recommend.

3rd time here while 2nd time for skiing holiday. Weather on mountain top is really unpredictable for all my visits. While the view is really fantastic but clouds and wind can affect your weekend. 1st visit for ski last year main chairlift was closed on one day due to bad weather at the top. This visit it was closed early for one of the days while the secondary chairlift was closed a day too. Also the main chairlift can be very crowded especially in the mornings. Enjoyable weekend but not a resort I would chose over others.

The good thing about this lake is that it's very easily accessible, either by car (plenty of space to park) or by the train that has the last station nearby. There is a wide path around a lake, it takes about an hour to walk around it. The views are beautiful, everything is clean and well kept. You can rent a row-boat over the lake, or go with a cable car to the Solisko mountain or follow various mountain trails, for example towards the Popradske Pleso or the Rysy mountain. Many restaurants and souvenir shops (slightly expensive).
