This historic old church is exquisite, and what a surprise! It is a little church but in cruciform shape, with wonderful roof angles framing the sanctuary. The sanctuary is a picture with a colourful stained glass window behind. The organ with its decorated pipes is...More

Stopped by for a quick visit and took time to admire the internal architecture and stained glass windows. A lovely little church. A slice of Akaroa history that survived the Christchurch earthquake.

Lovely church to stop in for a few minutes, not only for the beautiful architecture, but simply a place of peace.

Visited on Wednesday 25th April and was amazed at how well this building has been maintained and is still being used today. A credit to the residents of Akaroa.

On the walk up to the giants house, you'll come across St Peters Anglican Church. It has been restored after some damage from the Christchurch earthquakes in Sept 2010 and Feb 2011. It is a very quaint little village church.

Nice small wooden church. Recently reopened after structural strengthening following the 2011(?) Christchurch earthquakes. A couple of nice stained glass windows. 2236

This church was apparently built in 1863/64 - I wasn't there 😉. Recently restored, the beautiful native timbers and stained glass windows along with the high ceilings make this an inspiring place to pause in. Take the step climb to the balcony, ignoring the state...More

I started attending this church in 1949! Was a alter boy and sang in the choir. Fond memories, lovely peaceful place.

A peaceful little church that has a lot of character. Could be easily overlooked, hiding behind the overhang of a tree just a few paces up Rue Balguerie from the "main street".
