Picked up by water taxi at the end of day 3 of our walk and taken to this beautiful Lodge in Lochmara Bay, an absolutely stunning place in the Marlborough Sounds. Welcomed by Paula upon arrival and taken to our room. Rooms were excellent, staff extremely friendly and helpful and the restaurant served great food. Would recommend staying here at... More

We really enjoyed just meandering about the Lodge and its gardens. We took advantage of the free use of the kayaks and experienced our first sea kayaking adventure. We were not limited to how long we used them for and it gave us the opportunity to introduce our 10 year old to the sport in a safe environment. Only criticism... More

Terrific day trip from Picton, so glad we stayed for the whole day. Loved the bee hives behind glass, the flying-fox and most of all the hammocks where our whole family snuggled up for a doze and a chat in the dappled shade. We will be back!

Great stay & made better knowing that it was Eco-friendly. Rooms wrere average but offset by the friendly staff who went out of their way to deliver fantastic customer service. Would not hesitate to stay here again but would avoid the weekend when it gets busy with day trippers.

Very basic accommodation with very spectacular surroundings. Arriving half-dead after a grueling 4 hours of kayaking (my first time), didn't notice how naturally beautiful the lodge was until the following day. Great jump-off point for the Queen Charlotte Track. Had a great in-house deep tissue massage after walking the track! Heaven... Ladies at the counter were very helpful.

Boat ride very nice. Toured the island. Food too expensive for a traveler on a budget. Very nice view from the lop of the site.

Lochmara Lodge is more than just a place to stay. There is quite a lot to see and do here, from the wildlife sanctuary to glow worms at night and kayaking - it's all there, as well as a place to just chill out. We stayed here for one night while trekking the Queen Charlotte. Accomodation was comfortable and roomy.... More

We had stayed here before and were keen to see if it had changed. We caught the 9.30 water taxi over and had lunch and a good walk around. It has changed quite a lot, gone more up market

We went on the Discover Lochmara day trip from 12.30 to 5.00, mainly because all the other boat trips in Picton seemed to have 9.00 departure times and we weren't ready then! It was a serendipitous choice. The whole day was perfect, you have so much flexibility there. My husband wanted to sit in the sun, drink beer and watch... More
