I took the long trip to Doubtful Sound from Wakefield last week, and wish I had not bothered. The mail boat cruise of Queen Charlotte Sound is much prettier and very interesting. I chose the Beachcomber line and the boat was very comfortable, with free...More

Not much to do here but walking. (Good thing I like walking!) cute little town... but anything more than a few days would be too many. Friendly locals

Picton was a nice little town that we stopped at on our cruise. It’s not very busy and not many shops were open. Could be due to the fact we were a bit early in season for the area. Weather was rainy but mild temperature....More

Enjoyed being able to stroll to the town amenities, eat out, walk along the marina and play in the water park with our 10mth old. Great spot to visit for a few days.

Just a beautiful setting. Very relaxing just sitting on the bench seats provided. Watching the boats coming and going. The water is so peaceful

Picton is the town which connects the South Island to the North Island by the interisland ferry. Our cruise ship shuttle dropped us off at the visitor’s information center. We had 2 hours to spare before our Marlborough Sound cruise. We decided to walk the...More

Unwinding by the water or in a cafe or eating at one of the great places here - or relaxing with a good book - very enjoyable. If you want a place to chill - this could be for you

Lots of ferries flying the sound, including to Wellington. Great way to see the region from the water. Want to do the "mail route" next time I'm in Picton.
