We only had half a day in Fairbanks before heading out and the pipe line was a good place to check out. You don't need a lot of time here as it's just a spot off the side of the road and you explore on...More

Drove along miles and miles of the pipeline on our way on the Dalton highway from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle. It dips in and out of the ground constantly. Our guide explained many of the fascinating technical design aspects that make the pipeline work....More

We wanted to visit the pipeline and were very surprised to find that it was close to Fairbanks town by bus or car. It was included in a gold dredging tour we did so we were really pleased. The pipeline visitor centre is pretty much...More

It was our first time to watch the Trans-Alaska Pipeline with our naked eyes rather than from photos on books and magazines. The view was just magnificent with the miles and miles of pipeline running up and down hills on the snow-covered ground. There were...More

It was a thrill to see the pipeline up close and learn how it was constructed and is still maintained. It's an impressive engineering feat that still works. One fascinating aspect is how sections run underground at rivers and roads.

My wife and I saw sections of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) during our escorted ‘Natural Wonders of Alaska’ tour with Titan Travel. Our journey by motor coach between Valdez and Fairbanks along the Richardson Highway allowed us to view this important oil pipeline as it runs parallel with the highway for most...More

Alaskan pipeline is famous, and people travel upto Prudo Bay to see it. We could see it, just north of fairbanks. If you are visiting Fairbanks, do drive north, and you can see the pipeline above the ground.

This portion of the pipeline is out of the ground. You can review the mechanical background on the pipe because it's so much more!

We travelled from Fairbanks on a tour to see the pipeline where it is above ground. The 48 inch insulated pipe travels 800 miles from the very north of Alaska to the port of Valdez. As the oil is pumped out of the ground at...More
