We travel this highway at least a couple of times a year. The road is extremely well maintained, the scenery stunning. Plenty of pull-outs allow you to stop to admire the view and take photographs. While the road is good, I recommend you take your time. There is a good chance you will spot wildlife, and speeding through the area... More

This road is the best we have driven on in Alaska....very few frost heaves and the road surface was mostly smooth. We expected this road to be as bad as the road the Alcan from Destruction Bay to Alaska. A pleasant surprise that Canada is doing a great job of maintaining the road The scenery is great. Large vistas, plenty... More

During our cruise stop at Haines, we rented a car at Haines, drove to Chilkoot Lake, to the Bald Eagle Preserve, past the border to Tatshenshine-Alsek Park in BC, and finally to the Million Dollar Falls in the Yukon. The entire route was spectacular, but the British Columbia section was eye-poppingly so. There was stops along the way where you... More

Drove from Whitehorse, to Haines Junction, then to Haines, this is South. The road from Haines Junction to Haines is in excellent condition. The best roads we have been on. . No surprise potholes or rumbles. Many pullout areas for picture taking or to stretch your legs. They were very considerate and put the pullouts at the best spot for... More

Stunning mountain adventure. Haines is fun, Skagway a front to sell T-shirts to tour boats. Drive through. Quickly. Go on up, up, up and wind around the forsaken mountain roads. Think of all the sourdoughs climbing the mountains, a huge percentage of the white collar southern people chasing dreams of gold, out of their element, a miracle so many survived,... More

The road is well maintained and smooth to drive. There are many look outs, litter barrels, and rest stops available to travellers along the way between Haines, Alaska and Haines Junction, Yukon. Be sure to stop at the Million Dollar Falls campground to stretch your legs on the wooden boardwalks. There are no services available so pack a picnic. Beware of... More

I spent three nights on the Alaska Marine Highway marvelling at the beautiful scenery of the coast of British Columbia and Alaska. The Haines Hwy in Alaska is beautiful as expected but a few miles into BC I couldn't stop saying WOW. The magnificent mountains towering over me and my motorcycle gave me shivers. After several miles I felt that... More

Arrived at the U.S. Border Crossing just before Haines, Ak approx July 5/14. Gave the gentleman my passport and relative paperwork showing permission to have a rifle in my motor home. Received this paper work from Bureau of Firearms in Washington D.C. Had planned on not using the weapon at all, but for protection from possible critters because we were... More
