Totally worth the drive up from San Francisco! I couldn't stop taking pictures but they don't even come close to capturing the beauty and enormity of the trees. We started at the north entrance and drove south. There are so many groves where you can...More

Answers to questions I had that maybe you have too... Is it one way? No Does it matter which direction to go? Probably not, we went south and it doesn't seem like it would matter. Plenty going both ways. Are there more than the two...More

On our way to the Redwood National Park, we just happened to be hungry right before the exit for the Avenue of Giants. We ate lunch at the Chimney Tree Grill (great food) and proceeded down the scenic Avenue of Giants. What we thought would...More

You have to see it in person to really get the impact. Pictures do not do it. Hikes Rockefeller loop and went down to the river about .5 miles into the left loop. Took a dip even though the water was cold....this area is protected...More

Driving through the magnificent gigantic redwood Trees is absolutely nostalgic. The 32 mile drive is scenic and takes one back into time.

This is a must see!! We found the Avenue of the Giants by chance.Noticed the sign as scenic route and decided to take it. We were so happy we did. The road is narrow and winding. We took lots of pictures.

Drive full of awesomeness! Picked up a pamphlet at the start but didn't really follow it. Just took in the beauty of the trees. Took a few short hikes and stopped at the visitors center. Also stopped at the Shrine drive thru tree and paid...More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip along the Avenue of the Giants. To be fully surrounded by these amazing trees, at a more leisurely pace was worth every minute.

A handy tip is to make sure you collect a pamphlet at the start of the trail. It is housed in a mail box on the side of the road. The pamphlet points out several interesting stops, with ample space for vehicles. You can wander...More

Started at the Southern end and drove North. Neat little visitors center to get the history and background if the area and the Redwoods. We drove the full length but after so many miles it gets a little repetitive. Definately worth the drive but maybe...More

Didn't see any bike rentals anywhere along the route. Maybe just go a cheap one at Walmart and give it to a local kid when you're done with it.

I have not gone down to the Eel River, but I have seen a large flat area next to the South Fork of the Eel River where a fair number of people have driven their cars down to. I don't usually see people tubing on the river... More
