The nature center is well done and modern, some nice exhibits with information about the different types of habitats in this area. Clean bathrooms but no gift shop. The trails are really nice. We took 3 different trails and walked about 3 miles. The trails...More

The Arboretum offers a variety of trails - easy to moderate - through some of Louisiana's beautiful hardwood forest and cypress swamps. Streams, a lake overlook and plenty of exercise! Do one 1.5 mile trail or do them ALL for a full half day of...More

We spent a couple of hours in this beautiful natural area. The naturalist who led our hike was knowledgeable and responsive to our group's many questions. She pointed out such interesting trees, including the "toothache" tree, the Devil's Walking Stick, and the Horse Sugar three....More

This is a great place to learn about Louisiana's native vegetation. Within 300 acres they have several loop trails that pass through cypress swamp, lowland and upland vegetation zones, so you really get a good mix of the areas rich forest ecosystems. For a small...More

So close to all the flatland of Louisiana...how nice to see ravines, gullies, and all so green! The board walks are nicely maintained, with benches along the way. A nice walk in the woods. But, yes, remember the bug spray, especially for ticks! One of...More

Pros: Well-marked trails wind through different terrains. Some of the trees are labeled. It's free! Cons: Watch out for ticks and mosquitos.
