Ok, besides seeing the "Covered Bridge", above, on the trail in Holdingford, keep riding this absolutely beautiful and tranquil 12 foot wide new pavement to Bowlus, MN, home of Jordie's. Breakfast was homespun, pancakes out of the world, and I had the rubarb pie as an appetizer! The restaurant is full of local resident's homemade and antique objects and the... More

Miles and miles of paved hiking/biking/walking trails on an old railroad bed. Beautiful scenery takes you through many small central Minnesota towns.

The trailhead starts in St Joseph and goes to Collegeville, Avon, Albany, Freeport, Melrose, Sauk Center, and West Union. The trail is well maintained. It is nice because there is a town to stop and rest every 6-8 miles. I recently rode from St Joseph to West Union and back. It was about 85 miles. I saw lots of wildlife... More

I enjoy biking and walking my dog down this trail. It does not matter whether you go north or south - it is a fine trail with nice scenery in spots. Our dog seems to like it also!

This trail is the perfect choice for biking or walking. We bike the trail and find it peaceful with a lot of wooded areas along the trail as well as farm fields and creeks and river crossings. The trail is mostly flat so even novice bikers will find it enjoyable. If you have the time and energy it will take... More

I'm a road biker and not usually all that fond of the 10 foot wide railroad asphalt trails, but this clever naming for a chunk of the 120 mile long trail paralelling Interstate 94 got me on it. I believe the trail starts in St Joseph, and changes name to "Central Lakes" somewhere north of Sauk Centre, eventually finishing in... More

I walk along this path several mornings a week. It is very smooth, and has areas of sun and shade. We should be proud of it!

I rode my bicycle on the trail. I began my ride in St. Joseph, Minnesota and rode as far as Freeport before I turned around. The portion of the trail that I rode was very flat and easy to ride. From St. Joe to Albany the trail was well shaded. From Albany to Freeport there was more prairie and fields.... More

I am familiar with the stretch of the LWT around Holdingford. Trailhead is downtown, at a small park with a nice clean restroom, and close to a pizza/sandwich shop, bar and grill and hardware store. Also 2 blocks south of the trailhead is a city park that allows free camping, so great for bicyclists passing through. The trail itself is... More
