We absolutely loved our recent visit to Cathedral Gorge. We weren't sure if it would be worth the 3 hour drive from Las Vegas but it turned out to be fantastic. The landscape varied greatly on the drive north which made it very entertaining. We also took a quick drive along the Extraterrestrial Highway on our way home which was... More

Cathedral Gorge is 80 some miles from Cedar City, Utah across the Western border. It's a pretty unique set of scenery - and you can get close as you want to it. Nice campground - hookups, a few pull throughs, heated bathroom with showers. Take the Juniper Trail - it starts near the restrooms in the campground and loops around... More

This state park is located about 160 miles north of Las Vegas. The rock formations are pretty cool with a few short slot canyons to explore, but following the trail from the campground is difficult as the trail is not marked clearly at a fork early on the route. There is no shade on the 4 mile loop trail, so... More

We enjoyed our quick visit to this Nevada State Park. The rock formations are incredible. There are a few slot canyon trails you can follow. Great place for a hike.

Cathedral Gorge State Park is worth the side trip to Miller Overlook, a stand alone viewing area for this attraction. The views are expansive and unusual, reminiscent of Bryce Canyon, just consisting of mud flows instead of red sandstone. A short walk from the parking lot will lead down a few flights of stairs, however, the walk is worth it... More

Yes, Cathedral Gorge has it all. Read about the history in the brochure at the campground or the placards in the park. Enjoy the spectacular formations begun eons ago by volcanic activity. Walk the trails and explore the "caves." View planets, stars, satellites, meteors and constellations in the expansive, dark, night sky. The camp sites are large with ramadas, tables,... More

This is slightly off topic, the campground is amazing. You can charge your gadgets while camping and a modern bathroom has free hot shower. Summer is really hot, there is no shade here. I went to Jupiter Loop, start at 5 am to catch the sun rise. Those rocks look washout to be photographed. Like other desert environment setting, bring... More

Great place to go during a hot summer day. Slot cave like slits are cool and fun to explore. Kids and adults love this place.

This park is really cool. The caves area is really neat. Even in the dead heat of our NV summers, walking within the "caves" can keep you comfortably cool. They aren't so much caves, but rather narrow slots within tall, slotted passages within ancient volcanic ash cathedral spires. This park can definitely be done in a day, but one could... More
