Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited Asheville NC during New Year to go see first light of 2022. We drove through Hendersonville road and entered Blue ridge viewing stops. The one at elevation 4085 was the best. Only 15 minutes up the mountain. Amazing views and places to park your car.

It would be a shame for one to live in this beautiful country and to never see the Blue Ridge Mountains. It would be a joy for anyone from another country, too, to take a leisurely drive through the winding, pristine old forest-lined highway, stopping to view the layers of blue mountains hanging from the sky in the distance like a watercolor wash. Smell the air, so alive and fresh with nature. This is a trip for any age. Hikers have endless opportunities and those with physical limitations can enjoy so much beauty from a vehicle and the pull-out view locations.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are beautiful ! Heading South on the Blue Ridge from Virginia off of Interstate 64 , the first site that the traveler encounters is Humpback rocks museum and wayside. Stop and visit , worth walking thru the pioneer village .Also a restaurant and store to visit on the premises. The views driving the Blue Ridge Parkway are magnificent. , with many overlooks and sites to visit along the way.Check out the James River visitor center, even has a foot bridge that you can cross over the historic James River. The views are lovely! The drive continues along the parkway and the elevation gets higher and the scenery is amazeing. There are so many places to visit along the Parkway. Peaks of Otter, Ottercreek, Mabry Mill , just to name a few. Several have overnight accomations with a lodge or a cabin to spend the night with nearby resturants that serve a full course meal or a snack. Wear apporiate clothing as the temperature is colder the higher the elevations climb.Truly beautiful and well worth the trip. Enjoy!!!

Beautiful scenery, especially in the spring and the fall. And the best way to see it – in our opinion - is by driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have driven the western part from Cherokee to Little Switzerland several times and it has always been beautiful.

We took a nice scenic ride to Asheville ... drove just a short stretch of the parkway as we heard that there was a construction going on and parts were closed.
It is the most beautiful ride in the fall during the peak foliage. But it has been years since we have done that.
Even though the scenery is not quite as colorful in March, the views of the Blue Ridge mountains in the distance are beautiful any time of the year.

After talking about driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway for several years we finally made the drive during peak fall foliage. We drove the entire distance in 3 days and savored every moment. There are so many opportunities to take pictures due to the abundant pull offs. The maximum speed is 45 mph and is plenty fast as you want to take your time enjoying the beauty of the mountains. We drove mid week and there was very little traffic to contend with. This is one of best "FREE" national parks you should visit.

Joined at Roanoke. Speed limit although slow (needs to be) this enabled us to look at the magnificent views, all you can see in the distance are trees and the blue mountains. There are plenty of pull ins to stop some with cafes (going in the Fall meant some places were closed) but there are eating places within a couple of miles of the Parkway Track. We stopped at the Blue Ridge Music centre where we learnt the history of this music and attended a live session, in fact when they heard where we were from (London) they all clapped and made us very welcome.Too many beautiful scenic places to mention but the Blowing Rock know as the crown of the Blue Ridge is worth a stop off. Surrounded by legends and again, beautiful views.

Everywhere you turn, the colors of the season surround you.
Be sure to have a camera and stop at the stop offs when they come up, there are plenty of lookouts and short hikes and falls to see that are off the road but well worth the walk.
Bring your walking shoes, some of the shortest hikes can be wet and with leaves, slippery and or muddy but , not the whole hike, usually in spots around falls or rocks.
Get a local map for the Parkway drive and the sights along it. The towns are quaint and quiet with long roads and beautiful scenery so take advantage of some roads that go straight up to mountain side neighborhoods for fun.
Pack a lunch to take because you can end up staying at one or two lookouts or trails for hours without food or drink and pack lots of water for hikes.

In addition to the beautiful scenery in every direction (up, down, to each side), the road itself is in immaculate shape. It's one of the nicest roads in the States, seriously. We just drove across the country (West to East), and this was by far the nicest, smoothest, newest road. It's a dream on its own, and then you add in the gorgeous views and pretty hiking trails? This is a definite "must" if you're even remotely close.

What an amazing experience. We drove the entire parkway, starting in Cherokee and went to Waynesboro. We traveled with 2 dogs and made the trip in 4 days from leaving home to getting back to Ky. I do not have words to describe our amazing experience, except if you have the opportunity, this is a place that has to be placed on your bucket list! Only 1 campground on the parkway has bath houses, so plan ahead and notice all the campgrounds in proximity to the parkway, if a shower is important to you.. If your are tent camping like my wife and I.
