Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took the Jet Express ferry from Port Clinton to Put In Bay and then to Kelly's Island. It was nice not being stuck in a tourist trap and we had a BLAST driving a golf cart around the island and visiting the glacial grooves and the beach. TIP: When you get off the ferry, don't rent a golf cart there, go up the road a very short distance to the General Store (across from the Caddy Shack place with putt putt. They also have golf carts but they are EXPENSIVE). The General Store has 4 seat golf carts for $12 an hour or $44 for the day (could be half of day, can't remember because we only had time to do by the hour). The only thing I wish Kelly's Island had, is more signage to know where you are going. There are a few things we didn't get see like we wanted because we were pressed for time and wasn't sure where some of the things were. But the glacier grooves were very interesting and conveniently enough they were across from a small beach area. The beach area has dressing areas and bathrooms. If you are more nature loving people, head to Kelly's Island first, enjoy the beaches and other sights then head to Put In Bay.

I'm from Ohio and had no idea these islands even existed! I did a half day trip to Kelly's Island and Put in Bay and was in utter amazement, there was so much to see and do. I took the Jet Express Ferry from Sandusky, OH and went Island hopping. There was a lot of partying going on Kelly's Island, so if you like to party that's the place to be. Put in Bay was nice, I took the tour of the island and went to the winery where I was able to purchase a souvenir bottle to go! Lots of history out on those islands and I hope to go back again soon

What a pleasant surprise! From the ferry boat ride to the island to the renting of a golf cart to ride around the island on. Fun ! Fun ! Fun! Nice restaurants , bars, wineries and beaches. Pleasant breezes along with a long relaxing day at this little northern paradise will brighten your day . Kelley's island is definitely worth scheduling a wind down day to enjoy !!!

Just a 20 minute ferry ride from Marblehead is Kelly's Island. My husband and I took our bikes over and rode the entire island. Golf carts and bicycles are available for rental. Kelly's is quieter and more family friendly than the popular Put In Bay. Lots of water sports, beaches and restaurants, too. There are many bed and breakfasts a few hotels and other rental properties, as well as a beautiful campground. We just spent the day, but would have like to have spent the night, too. Can't wait to go back!

We boarded the Kelly's Island Ferry in Marblehead, Ohio- bikes in tow- and treated ourselves to one of the nicest biking day trips we've enjoyed. The 4-mile square island has mostly level, safe roads and striking scenery as you travel around the western side. We explored Monument Point, a large rock with native American carvings, glacial grooves, a beach, hiked through a wetlands area and enjoyed lobster chowder at a quaint downtown restaurant. The ferry was $20 round trip per person and $6 per bike. In the end, we decided it was well worth it. There are also 2 winerys, a brewery and a few other establishments that we didn't get around to visiting. This island is a quieter alternative to Put-In-Bay, with lots to explore.

We took a one day trip to Put in Bay with our nieces. We rented a golf cart and saw the entire island in about 4 hours. The highlight of the trip was cold ice cream next to the carousel. We really recommend a half day trip to this place. The boat ride on the catamaran is worth the trip. We took it from Sandusky and it is worth every penny.

Took our six and five year old grandsons to PIB Friday. We had great weather and a smooth ride to and from via the Jet Express.
My husband and I have spent many weekends in past years enjoying the lively bar action, good food and lots of people watching sights. This trip was a very different experience. We start the day playing in the park, mined for gem stones at the caves, went to the top of Perrysburg Monument, had the obligatory pizza at Frosty's, stopped for a quick snack and drink at Boardwalk to watch boats coming and going, took a spin on the carrousel, rode around the island on our golf cart and the kids took a dip in Lake Erie (yuck)and visited the candy store. Who says there is nothing to do other than party at PIB? Great time was had by all.

Went for a family gathering for my daughter's birthday. We traveled by ferry at Catawba. The process for buying, boarding and traveling to the island was really fast and pleasant, although we traveled on Saturday before Labor Day. Island was full at its extension, however, it is a tiny island and all what you need to explore is a golf cart. Only recommendation is to avoid "natives" by their properties, they are really rude and appears to dislike visitors; otherwise the island is pretty. Shops and restaurants are nice, they really want to please their guests.

My husband, daughter, and I went up to Kellys Island last summer for an over nighter. The ferry ride over to the island delighted my 6 year-old as did the quiet uncrowded beach and blue water. We stayed at a B and B with hospitable hostess who told us stories of growing up and going to school on the island. You will not find a Comfort Inn here, though I think week-long cottage rentals are typical.
There is not a whole lot to do besides kick back on a beach, boat, browse through a few shops, and eat out. But this is exactly what brings people here. I generally require more out of a vacation, so 1-3 days would be more than enough.
