Located on the Tidal Basin, it's a bit of a memorial less traveled. This being said, it's a wonderful place to visit when the cherry blossoms are out, and it gives you some more of the solitary space than what the Lincoln provides.

In a city full of museums and monuments this is definitely one of the stops. It sits alone across the tidal basin so access is not the easiest, especially if you are depending on the metro. I usually get off at Smithsonian (Blue Line) and...More

I liked this place much more than the Lincoln Memorial. Beautiful dome shaped building with a great view to the Tidal Basin, Washington Monument and other great buildings close by. Very quiet too.

What a beautiful monument with a gorgeous water front view. Everything about the building is grand and beautifully done. The bike share station is right next door, so you can ride here and return it while you walk around and enjoy the area.

If there is one place you must see when you visit Washington, this is it. You don't appreciate the sheer scale of it until you walk up to it; it is enormous.

The best shot is probably from along the tidal basin pathway.
