Very interesting. See Dorothy Gales ruby slipper (wiz of oz); commercials advertising cigarettes, corny ads that did not seem corny when first shown. Go back into time. Its free, so you can spend 30 minutes or 3 hrs. I had timed tickets for NMAAHC and we got to the area an hour early, so we spent the hour here. but... More

This is definitely one of my favorite museums in DC. The exhibit halls cover a wide range of topics and periods, and they are adding several more to open in the next two years. There are thousands of amazing artifacts from throughout America's history. We ended up a little rushed in our 3 hours there, and that was with half... More

Go alone or with family/friends. Either way you'll want to take your time and read and experience each exhibit. Unadulterated History that teaches, reaches and touches ones heart and soul. Best to go during the week, early before the crowds. Each floor covers a different time period in history so it's not necessary to start on the bottom floor unless... More

This is a great museum showing many aspects of our country. From trains to the actual Star Spangled Banner to Judy Garland's red slippers there is a little bit of everything here. I could spend hours there. I walks you through the history of the country. There is something there for everyone as well. Cannot say enough good things about... More

If you can only visit two museums at the Smithstonian skip this one. I like history as much as the next person, and was pleasantly surprised the place didn't just focus on war, but it was disappointing. There was a lot of focus on subjects like history of transportation or home appliances, or currency (forms of money), which are interesting,... More

There are some great finds within the museum; Bert and Ernie, the First Lady dresses, ect. However the layout of the museum was not super user friendly. If you are really jazzed about going, I would suggest going in the morning when you have full energy to find what you are looking for. I felt it was difficult to navigate... More

Of all the Smithsonian museums, this one is the most fun. My kids were extremely excited to see Dorothy's slippers, Bert & Ernie, and Miss Piggy. They also loved the president and first lady displays, especially the dresses. We started with the exhibit that takes you through all of America's wars. This section was very educational and definitely sparked my... More

This was a great museum. Kids loved the Presidential and First Lady exhibits...loved the dresses in particular. They also loved seeing all the "antiques", from Dorothy's slippers, to an early Apple computer. The flag was amazing. Simply beautiful to see and rather awe inspiring. The War exhibit was excellent as well. We saw everything there was and will go back... More

There are 23 Smithsonian museums to visit and I visited just one. Didn't have time. So much to do in Washington D.C. I am a history buff of American history. Wright Brothers, Presidents, Space, famous Americans....my favorite part? Looking at the gowns of the first ladies and reading about our Presidents. Could of spent 4-5 hours in here....historical.
